INTERNATIONAL PREPARATION FOR FASHION (Cert HE) – PORTFOLIO GUIDANCE
The International Preparation for Fashion course is an intensive one year programme designed to prepare you for entry into our range of fashion related courses at London College of Fashion (LCF). The course will provide students with an exciting and challenging preparatory experience designed to enable you to make informed decisions when selecting an undergraduate programme at LCF. The first term is an ‘experiential / diagnostic’ phase, students will experience a range of rotations across fashion design and technology, fashion media and communication and fashion business and management. This includes research, synthesis, ideas and concept development through a variety of experiences. During the second term students study a specialist area and develop a body of work that relates to their progression interest. The third term is an opportunity to develop a personal project and helps students confirm their subject specialism resulting in a final major project. The year of study is intended to prepare students for the level of work that will be undertaken in the first year of an undergraduate course and therefore focuses on additional areas such as academic and communication skills. This is explored through research, academic writing, group work and presentations plus English language (according to level).
We are looking for focused students and will discuss the work submitted in your portfolio at interview. Whilst we are interested in discussing your potential specialist pathway and career ideas, please note that you may change direction during the first term. All students will study the same units and do the same projects in the first term before going into the most appropriate specialist pathway in term 2. This selection of pathways is based on your term 1 work and your potential progression routes.
