Introduction to SolidWorks

Qualified Students should have experience in:

■ Drawing/sketching prints by hand or with software

(AutoCAD, Inventor, ProE/Creo, other)

■ Computer basics (PC)

■ Blueprint Reading

Courses are designed for people who are working in

manufacturing and want a bettering understanding of how

to create drawings and blueprints (and are interested in 3-D

printing).

Among the topics covered will be:

■ Becoming familiar with the SolidWorks window, tools and

application

■ Orthographic projection

■ How to create a new part/sketch

■ Fillets and chamfers

■ Editing a feature and a sketch

■ How to create a revolved sketch

■ Loft and sweep commands

■ Applying mates to components

■ How to assign rod, plate and guide parts and assembly

■ Drawing templates

■ Dimensioning

■ Editing title blocks

Qualified students will receive hands-on

experience in drawing and sketching prints,

manufacturing and computer basics. The course

will be structured with the first week night being

the main classroom session and the second

designated for lab work and coaching.

Upon completion, the student should be

able to:

1. Create a document template

2. Create a new part

3. Use parametric modeling fundamentals

4. Use model tree history

5. Use constraints and relations

6. Create projects

7. Use geometric construction tools
