• WellCAP well control training which was launched in 1997 was the accepted standard for well control training in the US until 2015.

• In 2015 IADC launched the WellSharp Well Control training standard and replace WellCAP.

From WellCAP to WellSharp Well Control Training

Industry stakeholders saw a clear need for:

•Improved technical knowledge and skill

•Improved and consistent human behaviors

•Improved process integrity

Why the Change?

Industry demanded more effective training:

• Courses focused on what employees need to know• Separate Driller and Supervisor curriculum

• Developed training for all employees with well control responsibilities

• Improved the integrity of the knowledge assessment• Implemented independent proctoring

• Increased focus on auditing
