Albania, 2016Moldova, 2017North Macedonia, 2016Kosovo*, 2019* References to Kosovo shall be understood to be in the context of the Security Council resolution 1244 (1999)

Integrated nature of SDGs: how Goal 1 targets fit into national development planning?

Integrated nature of SDGs: how Goal 10 targets fit into national development planning?

Criterion, ‘availability of agreed target indicators and deadlines’, also demonstrates that the overwhelming number of targets have no indicators or relevant deadlines. Specifically, the documents’ targets related to SDGs 10, 11 and 14 have no indicators at all.

RECOMMENDATIONS: RAPID INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT

Coverage of social-protection related SDG targets in strategies and programs of selected countries

How are social protection-related indicators reflected in the national development planning?

Example: City of Skopje draft Strategic Action Plan 2019-2021, M&E indicators’ revision

Used indicator: M2 of built-up green space area Additionally proposed indicator: Average share of the built-

up area of the City of Skopje that is open space for public use for all, by sex, age and persons with disabilities (SDG 11.7.1)

Reflections and conclusions

➢Many sectoral and mid-term strategies are expiring in 2020 and new phase of strategies’ design is a great opportunity to enrich their respective M&E and review mechanism with SDG-related indicators;

➢The more coherent approach a strategy or policy document has, the more appropriate it is to replace-strategy-specific key indicators with SDG national indicators;

➢National Statistical Agencies should be represented in each official SDG working groups under national SDG institutional mechanism and work closely with line ministries in embedding expropriate SDG-related national indicators into M&E system of policy development planning.
