Student Demographics: 26 students, 12 boys, 14 girls, urban elementary school.

Grade: 4th, public schoolCurriculum Area: Science

Unit of Study: Weather

Preliminary Problem Statement

What students know? What they need to know?

Students are familiar with weather, but many students and their families are not prepared for inclimate weather. Many families do not have a weather emergency kit in their home. Several students are unaware of the possible dangers caused by inclimate weather.

Data Collection

• Survey Monkey--students can write down their answers to the questions about the topic.

• Mobile data collection--the negative with this type of data collection is that students do not have the same type of phone.
