SURFACEPREPARATION

Forbesthangingresults,thedrywallsurfaceshouldbefinishedtoalevel4priortoinstallation.

Allhangingsurfacesmustbeclean,smooth,dry,undamaged,freeofmold,mildew,greaseorstains,andstructurallyintact.Allloosepaint,prioradhesivesandotherwallcoveringsshouldberemoved.Ifmoistureispresent,immediatelyidentifyandeliminatethesource(s)ofthemoistureandverifythatallwallsurfacesarecompletelydrybeforeproceeding.

AnymoldormildewMUSTberemovedfromwallsandhangingsurfacespriortoinstallation.Ifyouareunsureifmoistureproblemsarepresent,consultaqualifiedprofessionalbeforeproceeding.

Propersurfacepreparationiskeytogettinggreatresults.Topreparethesurfaceproperly,werecommendthatyoucleanandthenprimeallsurfaceswithauniversal,white-pigmented,moldinhibitingwallcoveringprimer.

Useonlyaleadpencilformarkingwallsandbackofwallcovering.Donotuseballpointormarkingpen,theywillbleedthroughthesurface.

Donotinstallwallcoveringunlessatemperatureabove65ºdegreesFismaintainedinbothareasofinstallationandstorageforatleast48hourspriortoinstallation.

WALLCOVERINGINSTALLATION

MDCDigitalWallcoveringismanufacturedandinstalledinsequentiallynumberedpanels.Eachshipmentincludesapanelmapwhichclearlyshowsthefinishedartworkandhowtheindividualpanelsshouldbeinstalled.Allpanelsaremarkedwithanumber,withcorrespondingnumbersindicatedonthepanelmap.

Beforecutting,layoutpanelsinnumericorderandexaminegoodstomakecertainnodamagehasoccurredduringshipping.Eachpanelshouldbeinspectedforcolorconsistency,accuracyandpropermuraldimension.Inspectionandinstallationshouldbedoneunderadequate/permanentlightingthatrepresentsthefinallightingconditionsascloselyaspossible.

Itisrecommendedtotrimthesidesofeachpaneltotheprintedimageedge;beingcarefulnottocutintotheimage.Thisallowsforanenhancedvisualguidethatwillresultinamoreaccuratepatternmatch.

Thetoolsneededandinstallationtechniquesutilizedaresimilartothatoftheprofessionalinstallationofcommercialwallcovering.Aquality,pre-mixed,heavy-dutyvinylwallcoveringadhesiveisrecommended.Useasufficientamountofadhesiveanddonotoverworkmaterial.Youcanproceedbydryorwethangingthematerial.

Ifdryhanging,applyadhesivetowallusing1/4”-3/8”naproller.Smoothpanelsintoadhesiveafterapproximately10minutesallowingadhesivetimetotackup.Towethang,applyadhesivetobackofpanelsusinga3/8”–1/2”naproller.Carefullybookpastedpanels.CAUTION—donotcreasepanels.

Hangthefirstpaneltoaverticalplumbline.Overlapsubsequentpanelsbeingcertaintomatchalldesignelementsalongtheentireseam.Doublecutmatchedseamsonthewall.Careshouldbeexercisedsothewallboardunderneathisnotscored.Theselvage(excesstrimmededge)shouldberemovedfrombothsidesofyourcutandtheseamclosedwithinonehour.Seamsshouldbestraight,haveatightfitandbefreefromairandpastebubbles.Smoothingtoolsshouldbefreeofsharpedgesandwrappedwithasoftclothtopreventscratchingthepanelsurface.Carefullyspongeeachpanelwithcleanwatertoremoveanyexcessadhesive.Changethiswashwaterfrequently.Blotthesesurfacesdrywithacleantowel.

Re-inspectinstallationaftereachpanelishung.Anyobjectionablevariationsincolor,pattern,panelmatchand/orpanelsizemustbeimmediatelycommunicatedtoMDCCustomerCareat800-621-4006forresolution.Continuingtohangquestionablematerialconstitutesacceptanceofproduct.
