Initial Moodle site sign in instructions.

To restate the definition of Moodle from their web site "Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It has become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. "

What is Moodle?

To begin, point your browser to:

http://accounts.learnnc.org

First Step: LearnNC logon.

Select the Create New Account option.

If you already have a learnnc login you can skip this step.

Add the information

Fill out the requested information and select the Request New Account button at the bottom of the page.

Join the Moodle Class

To begin, point your browser to:

http://moodle.learnnc.org

Login using your username and password (learnnc login).

On the left hand side under My courses you should see the option “All Courses”.

Click on All Courses

Click this option.

Find the PLC entry and select it. Then find the DPI entry and select it.

Select the PLC tab then DPI tab

You will need to scroll down to locate the PLC entry.

You have to scroll down until you see “PLCs.” It’s a big list so keep scrolling!

Locate YOUR Program Area PLC entry and select it.

Click on the Course Title

Select this option.

Enter the enrollment key XXXXX

Enter the Enrollment Key

XXXXX

Margaret Harris.

Enter the enrollment key for your program area (see CDC) and then click the “Enroll me in this course” button.

You should now see your program area option on your moodle.learnnc.org site.

A Wiki is a website that allows the creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a simple/ WYSIWYG text editor.

Wikis are often used collaboratively by multiple users.

What is a Wiki?

To begin, point your browser to:

http://wikispaces.com

First Step: Wiki logon.

Click Sign In.

If you already have a Wiki account you can skip this step.

First Step: Wiki log on.

Click Make a new account

Add the information

Fill out the requested information.•Username cannot contain spaces.•Select Protected (free) under Wiki Permissions•Select K-12 Education under Wiki Type

Click the Join button at the bottom of the page.

Confirm Wiki registration

Check email and click on the link in the message to confirm your Wiki account

Join RCSCTE Wiki

Enter “RCSCTE” in the box titled Add a wiki to this list: and click Enter

Join the RCSCTE Wiki

When the green check appears, you will see two wikis appear – select the one with RCSCTE in all caps.

Join the RCSCTE Wiki1. Click Actions

beside the RCSCTE Wiki listed under Favorite Wikis.

2. Click Join This Wiki.

Join the RCSCTE WikiClick Request Membership (no comment necessary)

Navigate the Wiki!

Pages in the Wiki:•Home (general info)

•Program Areas•Elements

Discussion tab: one for each Page within the Wiki
