Induction Project

Composition

My original intentions in taking these pictures is to remind myself and the audience that we will all face death one day. I think the walls with all the soldiers names from the war really helped me portray this message. The fact that the pictures are black and white also helps give this feel of depression and emptiness. The end results met up to what my original intentions were. Overall I have achieved the level of symbolism I aimed for. My first photograph was taken from a worms eye view which makes the person viewing the image feel small which represents the power of God. I think the audience can easily recognise this.

Shutter Speed

Julia Fullerton-Batten

The same way I found my pictures interesting using the fast shutter speed I found Julia Fullerton-Batten’s work. Of course here’s being a much more professional look to mine, I have already learnt different techniques on the way she takes her pictures which makes her work unique to others. One great difference I have managed to pick out from her work to my own is that hers are a lot more brighter and clearer than mine. I think this is due to the amount of light the shutter speed was exposed to which is something I am going to consider next time i do a freeze frame photo.

Evaluation I found taking images with various shutter speeds very interesting because with this you can go beyond a work of art that the eye would never be able to see without the camera which is why I found it extremely amazing. I believe that images taken with different shutter speed are aesthetically pleasing and gets across to every viewer in a different approach. By changing the shutter speed you can deliver different messages for example the first 2 images could be described as a bubbly party like picture whereas the last 2 images have a ghostly look and come across as scary.

Depth Of Field

This most probably being one of the trickiest work, I tried to change around the angle I was taking the picture from reflecting the expressions and movements the person was making. For example in one of my photograph, my partner was finding it difficult to balance therefore I had to take many pictures of her in the position so I could end up with a good image and the results turned out well.
