Introduction

Using Induction Sealing , it is now possible to create alternative , airtight , hermetic seals on the neck of the container.

Induction Cap Sealing is a process where an Aluminum Foil is sealed on to the Lip of the Plastic or Glass container.

Need for Induction Sealing

• There are a wide range of closures available , but the conventional bore seal has been most widely used. But Bore seals do not form hermetic , flexible or even reliable seals. The reason is that they leak.

• Also the product was not pilfer proof as duplication or pilfering could take place at any point of Distribution of the Product.

Principle of Induction Sealing

• The Principle of Induction Sealing is that when a conductive material like Al Foil is placed under the High Freq Magnetic Field, Eddy Currents are produced in it by the process of mutual Inductance. As a result of this, the Foil heats up. This results in the melting of Sealing Layer laminated on Al Foil prior to this. The Sealing Film melts and forms a tight seal against the lip of the Container. Thus the Sealing of Al Foil on the neck of Container takes place.

Containers suitable for Induction Sealing

• PET• HDPE• LDPE• PVC• Co-Extruded • Fluorinated• Glass

Characteristics of Containers

• The container should have Plastic Screw On or Snap On Cap.

• Uniform Neck is required.• Neck Sizes from 10mm to 135 mm.• Capacities from 10 ml to 200 lts Drum.• The Cap should be such that the Al Foil should

fit properly & be in contact with the Lip of the Container after Closure.

Application

• Agro Chemicals• Cosmetics• Oil & Lubricants• Pharmaceuticals• Food & Dairy Products

Advantages • TAMPER PROOF.

• PRODUCT FRESHNESS

• PROTECTION AGAINST LEAKAGE, OXIDATION AND CONTAMINATION

• SALES PROMOTION

• MAXIMUM FILLING SPEEDS

• MINIMUM EFFORT

• INDIRECT HEATING

• IGBT TECHNOLOGY

Wads or Liners

The Wad basically consists of Four Layers

• Cardboard or Foam Packing• Wax Layer• Aluminum Foil • Sealing Film

Different Wads are used for different Plastic Containers.

LDPE & HDPE Bottles – LDPE Film.

PET – Heat Sealable PET Film.

The Pressure is provided by the Cardboard & Cap which further acts as a seal after opening the Al Foil. The Wax layer prevents the Cardboard from burning & melts during the process. Different combinations of Wads are available for different Bottles & Products.

Process

The Process is as follows.

Step I : The Wad is inserted in the Cap at the User End Manually or pre- inserted by the Cap Manufacturer.

Step 2 : After the Filling Process, the Cap is screwed on the Container.

Step 3 : After this the Bottle passes under the Induction Head.

We take a look at the Process in detail….
