Application - :

1. Refining and decolourising of vegetable oils like: palm, palm kernel, coconut, soyabean, etc.2. Refining of Hydrogenated vanaspati ghee oils, margarine and shortening.3. Refining of animal fats like tallow oils, fish oils, lard oils.4. Refining of mineral oils.5. Other applications like: solvent (for dry cleaning), bleaching of sulphur, effluent treatment plants.

Activated Bleaching Earth 

Raw Edible oil contains colour impurities like carotenes, phosphatides (gums), chlorophyll, heavy metals complexed in gums and pigments which require removal for optimum oil quality. Our bleaching earth is high performance quality earth used to effectively remove these impurities. It is manufactured from montmorillonite of India. Its particle size distribution and highly porous inner structure resultant from acid leaching of ore ensures high active performance of the earth.

Activated Bleaching Earth)

Applications of Defoaming Agent:

- Process of manufacturing of Phosphoric Acid,

DAP, NP & NPK fertilizers, where copious Foaming

takes place, which needs to be quelled.

Defoamer

Dosage: - As required, generally less than 200ppm

Benefits of De-foamers:- Suppresses the acidic foam which can be harmful to life,

if in contact during manufacturing process- Gives extra space in the vessel to manufacture and

stores the acid during the process as maximum space

is mainly occupied by foam in the vessel

(De-foamers)

Contents of De-foamers:- Surface active agents

- Stabilizers

- Anti fungal agents

- Emulsifiers

Safety Measures: - Non Flammable

- Do not cause skin irritation 

Defoamer

Typical Problem Area:

- Washing away of Fertilizer Salts

- Formation of lumps and powder

- Due to the powdery form, making of mechanical

application of fertilizer becomes impossible

- Reduction in yield factor of farm

- Challenges in providing Granular/Prilled products.

Need of Coloring Agents:

- Giving distinct identity to the product

- Imported DAP is uniformly black in colour

Colouring Agents

Types of Coloring Agents:

- Surface Colouring: Outer surface of the product is

coloured as per requirement.

- Body Colouring: Outer as well as inner part of the

fertilizer is coloured

a) Benefit of Surface Colouring Agent:

- Imparts uniform and distinct colour to the fertilizer

- provides Anticaking properties

b) Benefit of Body Colouring Agent:- Imparts uniform and distinct colour to the outer as well

as inner side of the fertilizer

- Provides binding property

- Giving uniform shape and size

Colouring Agents

Problem Areas:

- Not getting desirable free flowing properties

- Use of strong mechanical force and or impact for disintegrating of the lumps

- Disintegrating of lumps is difficult and often time consuming process

- Disintegration of lumps leads to dust forming and fine formation of urea prills

Urea Anticaking Agent

Cause of Caking in Urea:

- Formation of Crystal bonds between particles

- Internal moisture or extremely absorbed water by capillary

or thermal action forces attracted to the contact surface of particles

- Saturated surface formed on the particles

- Increase in temperature as a result of thermal effect

Main Parameters Minimizing Urea Effect:- Cooling before bulk storage

- Proper loading and unloading during storage and while

in transit for ocean going vessel

- Low moisture urea content 0.15 to 0.25%

- Significantly hard prills with prill strengthening agent

- Uniformed sized prills

Urea Anticaking Agent

Problem Areas:

- Caking problem due to low strength in urea prills

results in more powder

Urea Melt Additives

Dosage Requirements:

- 0.05 to 0.1% by weight of Urea, in Urea Melt Solution

Benefits of Urea Melt Additives:

- Acting as Anticaking agent

- Acts as De-dusting agent

- Prills toughening agent

Used in: - NPK & NP Fertilizers

Problem Areas :

- Granules remain hard and insoluble after 10 to 15

minutes, which creates dissolution problem in the field

- Low yield as the product does not dissolve completely

- Chemical structure of P2O5 & N2 is disturbed

- Floating of fertilizers in the field

Dosage:

- 0.90 to 1.6 kgs max per MT of NP/NPK depending on its

hardness and required dissolving time.
