Reflection for Use of this PowerPoint Document

My first period class is what is termed by the school as ELT or Extended Learning Time. I teach social studies ELT and did for this past year. The class consisted of those students, based on CRCT math and reading scores, which did not necessarily need extra help with those areas. This past year I used this form of PowerPoint to discuss the social studies current affairs that was happening at the time. This Jeopardy game was useful in covering the presidential election that was the forefront of news coverage. This type of game is useful for not only the learning that is involved, but also for the students to work and discuss together ideas to come to the collective answer. The students were not able to pick their own groups, but were placed in groups so that everyone would benefit.

It might be hard to use this exact PowerPoint next year in that the election would not be a current affair, but it still might benefit the students’ understanding various topics they may have heard during the election coverage. To change the “answers” as Jeopardy calls them, and alter information presented would be a simple and useful task. I would not have to create a new PowerPoint Jeopardy game to explore new current affairs topics, but instead replace the information on the slides and then save as a new PowerPoint game.
