ABSTRACT
The idea behind school management system is to develop a system that works for
the best to achieve academic goals and missions. The main theme is to develop or
enhance the level of teaching by using ICT solutions. It helps to manage pedagogical
activities and work for the best of school management or record keeping. The
developed system leads us to the way that shares work of a school with its
management and making things easier and simple to manage the record of the school.
ICT important role in developing such systems. SMS is the solution to problem of
modern school management. MIS is second name of SMS. For the overall
improvement in educational environment it is developed. It makes things easier for the
management and in this way it helps to establish a sense of confidence and
satisfaction. By sharing their work with them newly developed system. In this way
teachers got more time for student’s activities and learning. This system is a solution
to management of class problems. Its serves best for both teachers and learners, with
the minimal chance to lose of their class work. The use of information and
communication technology in this area serves its best to provide the modern world

problem solutions. Enhancing a school environment by managing its resources in an
efficient way such as to keep record save and well organized. MIS and SMS are used
interchangeably. Both of these terms address the management system. The statistics of
system implementation are very satisfactory and results in favor of the school
management. It makes them feel relax and the things manage well. It helps in their
work. SMS implementation shows good results for schools in modern age of
technology.

1. INTRODUCTION
Computers contribute a lot in management of schools in term of teaching, administration and
learning at school. Massive investment has been done for introduction of ICT involving
softwares, hardware, staff development and networking. It has brought about positive effect
on efficiencies and performance of school [1]. The utilization of information technology in
modern learning strategies and techniques is one of the most growing field of the time. ICT
helps us make maximum use of our effort and gives us better focus on our work. We
developed a system or application software to manage the educational activities of schools
using ICT [2]. MIS plays an important part in the field of decision making because it helps in
monitoring of any disturbance of system. It can also help in determining a pathway of action
and taking the action to control the system. It also plays a role in non-programed decision. It
does so by providing support in the process of analyzing, evaluation and choosing the
decision and by providing information for the process of implementation [3]. The school
management system is an Android based application, developed for school management. It
manages their educational efforts in an effective way that leads them to the efficiency and
improvement benchmark. It saves teachers, heads and students time. The system gives them
the charm of ICT and they feel relaxed for their work routines [4].
It provides heads the functionality that they can use it to see teachers and students
performance, from this point it gave him/her the ability of decision making. He or she can
make valuable decision [5]. Decisions regarding to the school improvement standards and
working. Teachers can mark attendance online, upload assignments, upload results of
students. Students can get their performance view, they can check their result and attendance
[6]. Overall system provides a solution that addresses the problems and needs of schools of
Punjab province of Pakistan.
Initially when the system was implemented in the 498 high schools of Punjab, Pakistan.
The 63.25% of the total schools of Punjab. Semi-structured interviews of representatives of
high schools shows the improvements in the educational institutes [7]. Results were
outstanding, more than 50 % things get better than previous manual system of school
management. Although the data set is not too big but for statistical analysis or research work
for the time being, it is used to analyze the environment [8].
The research of the school management system is linked with use of system by teachers,
heads and students [9]. As far from implementation point of view system totally works under
the school users and administrators of it. This research paper shows the implementation of

school management system in the era of growing technology and communication [10]. The
effectiveness of the system is of much worth, especially in a developing country like Pakistan.
ICT provides them with the best of its time.
The review of literature in its first part describes the difference between traditional
working or managing schools and the school system implemented [11]. The difference can be
a wonder, as compared to the traditional school management process. The analogy between
these systems describes the whole scenario that how much it can be effective if few
improvements or changes were made in the system existing system [12].

1.1. Problem Statement
Old fashioned and manual school management system shows many mismanagements in its
domain and it make us left behind in the age of modern technologies. It is big problem, not to
use technology.
2. REVIEW OF LITURATURE
Communication has a very important role in any system or organization. It helps to connect
different sections of any system and creates coordination [13]. If there is a system that
manage the organization data and keep the record save, it will help a lot. In a developing
country like Pakistan the use of ICT to enhance working level of different institutes is
comparatively new approach, as these things were not available and things going on in their
conventional ways. There is no improvement in the situation all governments tried to improve
quality of education system to bring at up to national and international standards but success
has not been achieved so far. Education system seems to collapse in all fronts [14]. The
approaches to manage data or record in schools was old and the efficiency was not good in
this case. The use of MIS or SMS is started in late 90’s or in start of 2000 A.D in Pakistan.
The earliest college body pc applications began their development within the late
Nineteen Seventies. within the early Nineteen Eighties, many loose, non-integrated clerical
and body applications were developed, however these applications restricted the chances of
management support as a result of the relationships between the information couldn't be

analyzed [15]. the most objective of code development and usage throughout the initial stages
was to enhance the potency of college workplace activities. Computers and technologies in
academic establishments were used primarily to store student and personnel information [16]
believe that MIS directors and academics for sophisticated coming up with, policymaking and
analysis might offer necessary information. That MIS has revolutionized management of
schools in term of assessment, human resource and leadership, management of workload,
consultation, scheduling the responsibility. These systems can assist administrators in setting
school objectives, preparing strategic plans, allocating resources, and assessing staff
performance for organizational achievement [17].
3. MATERIALS AND METHODS
The general background of this work is that it’s a new initiative of government of Pakistan.
Previously there was a manual system of record keeping. It was not as much efficient as the
new system. The system is implemented to develop a new way of school management or
record keeping. Figure 2 is a use case diagram used in process model for developing the
system. It provides basic infrastructure for the system (application). It gives us the user and
system responses, how it works.

For this purpose, we use 315 out of 498 high and higher secondary schools of Punjab
district Faisalabad. Research consists of 63.25% of schools. Initially the system was
implemented in schools there was too many new things that were, observed such as most of
the teachers don’t understand this system and not feel comfortable with the system. The
system was implemented in mid of 2020.
3.2. Instruments and Procedures
The heads or representatives of schools were call upon to give us feedback or what they
observed after implementing the system. There was questionnaires and semi-structured
interviews of heads of the schools. These types of question were asked to the heads from
research perspective (1) what are the heads findings regarding the overall improvement of
school (2) what improvements were observed in teachers activities (3) what benefits did the
students get from the system (4) what were the difficulties faced while using new system (5)
what are your suggestions for the improvements of the system.

5. CONCLUSION
Information technology is a relatively new field in educational management that needs
intensive study not only on system use in schools, but also on their effects on school
processes and perhaps results that are among the major priority areas for future research Is
one. MIS assistance in effective school management. With the lack of forms of technology
and techniques used in this area, there are problems to enable users to use the currently
available data. Research can have a major role in supporting educational efforts and practice
in this area. School management system improves the standards of pedagogical work of
schools in effective manners. It helps students, teachers and heads in their work. It is easy for
the heads to make decisions with help of system that enhance the standard of their work as
well. It becomes helpful for teachers and students to evaluate their performances. School
management system application change the way as the managements of schools work. The
results of the system after implementation shows that there is a significant difference of style
of work of school management. Moreover, it works for decision-making, e-communicating
among heads, teachers and students.
