They traveled around the American west.

They made maps of rivers, lakes, mountains, and plains.

American Indian that helped Lewis & Clark on their trips. She was an interpreter for Lewis & Clark. She pointed out plants that were edible and other plants that could be used as medicine.

Harriet TubmanHarriet Tubman was a

African American that lead slaves to freedom. She helped other African Americans escape using the Underground Railroad. It was not a real railroad. It was a long secret walk with houses to stop at along the walk.

Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States.

President Roosevelt loved nature and he started many natural parks. The teddy bear was named after Theodore Roosevelt.

Books cost a lot of money when Ben was a boy. Ben and some of his friends got together and pooled their money to buy books. They let people borrow these books. Ben started the very first library.
