• included Germans, Scandinavians, Irish

• often became farmers

‘New’ Immigrants

• Between 1870-1924• Came from:

– Southern Europe– Eastern Europe– Japan and China

• included Poland, Italy, Russia• found jobs in cities; factories• created ‘ethnic neighborhoods
