ICT

It's Sunday night and you've had a big weekend. You've been socialising on Instagram, Facebook, or Snapchat. You caught up with friends to watch YouTube and battled it out for first place on the Nintendo Switch/Xbox One/PlayStation 4. Once again, you had to help your parents with downloading musicand streamed it to your TV and surprisingly even remembered to Wikipedia that info you need for school. Why Study Information & Communication Technology (ICT)?

Let's face it, you live in a world of technology and you know how to use it, why would

you need to learn it?

Should I choose this subject?

● Can you think of a career where ICT is not used?

● Can you afford not to have a

qualification in ICT?

● Do you perform better in

assignments than you do at

tests?

What is it about?

Having good ICT skills are crucial for pupils success;

whether the plan to go to sixth form or seek employment.

This WJEC course in Information and Communication

Technology offers a unique opportunity in the curriculum

for candidates to identify and solve real problems by

designing information and communication systems in a

wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests.

Computer Science

April 2020

A modern course for a modern world

What is it about?

Computing is of enormous importance to the economy. The

role of computer science as an ‘underpinning’ subject

across science and engineering is rapidly growing.

GCSE Computing differs from ICT by using programming

languages to solve problems as well as looking at current

and emerging technologies but the two complement each

other and provide pupils with a balanced set of skills.

Should I choose this subject?

● Do you like a challenge?

● Are you able to solve problems?

● Do you like understanding how things work?
