Step 1. Hydrate

•Hydratewithsterilesalineorsterilewater.

•Squeezeoutexcessfluid.

•HeavyDrainagedressing:soakfor 5-10minutes.

Step 2. Apply Step 3. Cover

•Secondarydressingselectionis basedonexudatelevel. (seechartbelow)

Step 4. Dressing Changes

•Changethedressingevery3days andasrequired:

•Ifthedressingretaineditsbluecolorwhereithadbeenincontactwiththewound,thenewdressingcanbeleftinplaceforupto3days.

•Ifthedressingturnedwhiteorlightened incolor,continuedailydressingchangesuntilbluecolorisretained.

Moisture Balance

•Aswithmanywoundcaredressings, moisturebalanceiskey.Ifthedressing isdry,thoroughlyremoistenwithsterile salineorsterilewater,thengently removethedressing.

Tunneling Dressing

•Moistenthetipwithsterilesalineorsterilewatertoaidwitheaseofinsertion.

•Gentlyinsertthemoistenedendofthedressing(softened)intothewoundtunnel orsinus.Ifnecessaryyoumayusearigidswabtohelpguideitintoplace.

•Afterinsertion,addafewdropsofsterilesalineorsterilewatertotheendofthedressinguntilmoist.

•Trimthedressingasneeded.

•Securewithasecondarydressing.
