HT Series waterjets eature a mixed ow pump witha greater nozzle to inlet ratio than comparible sizeaxial ow waterjets. This provides high efciencyover the entire vessel speed range.
A new optimised compact astern deector retainsthe performance of HM series type ducts but withreduced weight and width for installation in narrowhulls. The deector is actuated by two ully inboardhydraulic cylinders.
The HT waterjet models are ftted with the classleading JT nozzle steering system, also actuated by
two fully inboard hydraulic cylinders. Shafts forboth steering and astern deectors are protectedfrom wear and marine growth through the use ofsealed rubber bellows on external shaft surfaces.
Installation of HT series waterjets has beensimplifed by the use o a compression seal typetransom plate arrangement, which allows for anincreased tolerance for transom axial alignment.
The transition duct extends rom the at suraceaft of the intake opening to an area forward of thefront intake screen mount (HT900 & HT1000 only).For an aluminium hull, the transition duct casting
is surrounded by a section of 5083 aluminium plateso the shipyard does not need to carry out plate-to-casting welds.
The use of a relatively short transition on the twolarger HT models makes these waterjets easierto adapt to warped hull shapes common in largermonohull vessels, and to avoid interference withhull wedges and other appendages.
The intake screen on HT series waterjets featuressix hydrodynamically profled bars, which oerhigh efciency while maintaining protection o thepumping gear.
As the HT series waterjets utilise a tapered outsidediameter impeller, the mainshaft axial position isadjustable in order to set and maintain impeller tipclearance.
Aluminium anodes are used throughout HT serieswaterjets, with tailpipe internal anodes able to bereplaced without removing the tailpipe.
Like other HamiltonJet waterjet models a jetmounted and driven hydraulic power unit (JHPU),driven via multiple vee-belts from the jet coupling,is used for normal hydraulic operations. An optionalauxiliary AC hydraulic pump (one per jet) is alsoavailable for actuation of the steering and reversewithout the gearbox engaged. Hydraulic andthrust bearing oil cooling is provided by oil coolersintegrated on the waterjet.
Thrust bearing oil circulation is provided by atandem pump mechanically driven by the hydraulicpump.
