Introduction

• Clones a hard drive by taking an image of it.

• Useful when you need to restore your system after a hard drive failure

• Can be done at any time of the day.– It takes about an hour or two

• Fairly safe as long as you know what you’re doing.

Materials• Similar laptops/computers

• Apricorn’s EZ Gig II– http://www.soft32.com/download_178238.html

• A desktop computer– Including 2 SATA cables

Step 1- Remove the hard drives

• Remove the screws that hold the hard drive in place.

• Pull hard drives out.• Label one to make

sure which is the original and copy.

Step 2- Connect the hard drives to desktop via SATA cables

• Make sure the desktop computer is OFF while connecting hard drives.

• Connect to SATA cables and power cables.

Step 3- Turn on the desktop power

Step 4- While starting up, press DEL to enter CMOS Setup

- Enter Standard CMOS Setup.

Step 5- Return to CMOS Setup and go to Advanced Setup

Step 6- Press F10 to save

Your computer will now boot up.

Step 7- Open Apricorn EZ Gig II-If the program is not installed, it can be downloaded from http://www.soft32.com/download_178238.html

Step 8- Begin by backing up image

Select which disk you want to create an image of

Choose name and location to save to

• After clicking next, you can select default options, and create a comment for this file.

Step 9- Clone the disk

Step 10- Choose your original and copy drives

Step 11- Proceed

Step 12- Reboot!

Step 13- Remove hard drives from computer and replace
