NIFC Use Case

• NIFC is the nation’s logistical and support center for wild land fire and,

sometimes, national emergencies.

• NIFC is where state, federal and tribal agencies work together to get fire

personnel, aircraft, supplies, and equipment from anywhere in the country to

where they are needed the most.

• In the last decade, there have been over 76,000 fires and 6.5 Million Acres

burned per year by wild land fires.

Why EGP?

• NIFC required a common view of authenticated and validated data on wild

land fire that was spatially enabled from one source.

• Visualization of data and analysis from multiple fire reporting and intelligence

sources.

• Faster fusion of information

• Before this, decision makers and managers had to monitor multiple sites to

develop a “picture” of the historical, current, and predicted situation
