Host a Polar Bear Explorers’ Book Club

Here are some tips for hosting a Polar Bear Explorers’ Book Club:• Design a poster for your event, make sure you include the date, time and place of your book club

• Decorate the area of your book club with snowflakes:

• Cut an A4 piece of paper into a circle

• Fold it in half and then in half again

• Cut out lots of small shapes and then unfold your snowflake

• Repeat this to make more snowflakes and hang up with string

• Feed your book club with unicorn food! Iced gems are unicorn food, you could get some to serve during your book club to keep everyone fuelled

• Watch the author, Alex Bell, chat about her new book at www.polarbearexplorersclub.co.uk

• Here are a few discussion questions for your book club:

• Which explorers’ club would you like to be in and why?

• Who is your favourite character and why?

• If you could be an animal whisperer like Shay with wolves, which animal would you like to be able to talk to?

• What was your favourite scene in the book?

• What food would you like to come out of a magical golden egg from the frosties?

• How do you think the carnivorous cabbages came to be in the room of the ship? Invent a story together.

• What did you think of the ending of the story?

• What do you think happened after the end of the story?
