Keep heaters 3 feet away from beds and drapes
Buy heaters that are thermostat controlled

Keep newspapers, magazines, and fabrics 3 feet away from space heaters and fireplaces
Use kerosene heaters only in a ventilated space
Do NOT use stoves, ovens, or BBQ pits for indoor heating
Install a carbon monoxide detector
