Infrastructure Analytics Advisor installation andconfiguration workflow
This section describes the procedure for installing and configuringInfrastructure Analytics Advisor. The figure that follow shows the workflowfrom installation to configuration.
14 OverviewHitachi Infrastructure Analytics Advisor Installation and Configuration Guide
Configuring Infrastructure Analytics Advisor in secure mode is optional.Communication between management servers, probe server, and the webclient uses a self-signed certificate that is installed by default so that noadditional configuration is required. The following figure shows the variousInfrastructure Analytics Advisor components and communication routes.
Overview 15Hitachi Infrastructure Analytics Advisor Installation and Configuration Guide
The product installation and initial configuration is quick if you use the defaultself-signed certificate installed with the product. However, if you want tostrengthen security for exchange of data between various components in theInfrastructure Analytics Advisor environment, you must do some tasks on theservers to generate certificates and have them verified by a certificate-signing authority before you apply them in your environment.
Installation methods
You can install the Infrastructure Analytics Advisor using the appropriatemethod for your environment.

Adding Hitachi Enterprise Storage probeYou must add the Hitachi Enterprise Storage probe on the Analytics probeserver to monitor the Hitachi enterprise storage systems.
Prerequisites for adding Hitachi Enterprise Storage probeReview the following sections before adding Hitachi Enterprise Storage probe.
Verify the connection between host and monitoring targetsReview the following information if you are monitoring Hitachi Virtual StoragePlatform, VSP G1000, VSP Gx00 models, VSP Fx00 models, or Hitachi UnifiedStorage VM storage systems.
1. RAID Agent accesses storage systems by using the following methods.Verify that the RAID Agent host and the storage system can beconnected by using both methods.• Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), or iSCSI
• TCP/IP connection
2. Verify that the RAID Agent host and the storage system are connectedvia a LAN.
3. Make sure that one of the logical units is assigned to a command device.Command devices must be defined as RAW devices. RAW devices mustcomply with these rules:• Command devices using RAID Agent cannot be used with ZFS file
system. Because using ZFS file system creates a file systemautomatically, the usage conditions listed below cannot be met.
• Do not create file systems in the logical devices specified as thecommand devices.
• Do not mount file systems to the logical devices specified as thecommand devices.
• In a Linux machine environment, the /dev/sd form of the device filename might be changed by rescanning the disk device. Werecommend that you use the WWID based form of the device filename (/dev/disk/by-id/scci hexadecimal-WWID). To specify theWWID based file name:1. Use the jpctdlistraid command to display the /dev/sd form of
the device file name.Example, /opt/jp1pc/tools/jpctdlistraid
56 Adding probes to Analytics probe serverHitachi Infrastructure Analytics Advisor Installation and Configuration Guide
2. Use the ls command to search for the symbolic links managed inthe /dev/disk/by-id directory for the WWID device file namemapped to the corresponding /dev/sd file name. For example, use the following to search for the WWID device filename corresponding to /dev/sdc:ls -la /dev/disk/by-id/* | grep sdc
3. Make the device name specified by this command output theCommand Device File Name.
4. Make sure that the RAID Manager LIB is installed on the RAID Agenthost. Obtain the latest version of RAID Manager LIB from your HDSrepresentative.
5. Verify that a Storage Navigator user account was created. One useraccount is required for each instance. Assign the following role to theuser accounts:
User account role needed for Performance Monitor settings:• Storage administrator (performance management)
User account roles needed to collect performance data viaTCP/IP:
• Storage administrator (viewing)
• Storage administrator (initial setup)
• Storage administrator (system resource management)
• Storage administrator (provisioning)
• Storage administrator (performance management)
• Storage administrator (local backup management)
