1. About HIF
For over 50 years we have dedicated ourselves to the health and wellness needs of
all our members. Our commitment has made HIF one of the most trusted, not-for-
profit, progressive private health insurers in Western Australia.
We do not have shareholders and our profits are reinvested back into the fund for the
benefit of members. We do this through keeping a “tight lid” on premiums; improving
the value of health insurance rebates; increasing the range of treatments and
services covered under our members’ policies; and ultimately, we consistently focus
on service excellence.
HIF is the third largest health fund in the WA market and we have developed
considerable experience in providing Corporate Health Plans to approximately 200
large organisations operating in WA.

2. Why is HIF the smart choice for your employees?
HIF has designed a range of corporate health cover solutions to save your
employees money, provide unbeatable value as well as give them the flexibility to
choose a cover to match their personal preferences.
An HIF corporate health cover solution is an investment in your business's most
valuable asset, your employees. Studies have shown that employees are more likely
to be focussed in their roles and perform best when they are in optimal physical and
psychological health. Employees are also more likely to be attracted to, remain with,
and value an employer that appreciates them.
HIF’s corporate health covers improve
company productivity by assisting your
organisation to:
 Attract superior quality employees
 Reduce absenteeism and down time
 Enhance on-the-job performance
and decision making
 Improve employee morale and turnover

4. Product design, benefits and service excellence
As one of the fastest growing health funds in WA, HIF is committed to providing
members with the best possible level of cover, benefits and personal service. HIF
recognises your employees as individuals and provides them with friendly
personalised service and a level of dedication that ensures the right health insurance
solution is identified for all of your participating employees.
HIF’s range of hospital and ancillary covers have been specifically designed to
deliver quality insurance, whilst being tailored to meet members’ needs, as well as
their lifestyle and budget.
Members can choose from a wide range of hospital and ancillary covers. There are
different levels of cover to suit everyone and they provide unbeatable value for
money because members are only paying for the cover that gives them what they
need. HIF health insurance offers great value. Electing to pay a hospital excess can
reduce premiums even further.
HIF is owned by its contributing members. Thus, all surpluses (if any) are reinvested
back into the Fund to ensure greater rebates and improved services for members
can continue to be delivered. HIF initiatives such as SmartTeeth dental program
allows members to claim up to 100% of the provider charge for some of the most
important or relevant treatments.
Unlike other funds, where you might take up to 10 years to reach your maximum
annual rebate limit, HIF allows you to claim your maximum annual limit within the first
5 years of membership. This means more money in members’ pockets and
enhanced value for money from their health insurance fund.

5. Pick your own provider
HIF is committed to a philosophy of “choice”,
ensuring members are able to choose freely
from any one of HIF’s many recognised
providers. We are the only WA private health
insurer to have been publicly applauded by the
Australian Dental Association (WA) for delivering
improved dental rebates and ensuring 100%
choice of dental provider for our members.
6. Visa compliant health cover for international employees HIF is also able to assist your employees who, due to their residency status, may not
eligible for Medicare benefits (e.g. workers on 457 visas). HIF has a number of overseas
visitor health cover solutions that will facilitate easy access to benefits normally
provided under Medicare claiming. We will assist your employees to understand the
Australian private health system and through regular contact, help them to obtain the
maximum value from their HIF membership.

9. Our corporate offers to you (subsidised and non-subsidised)
HIF has a number of long term corporate partners who contribute towards the private
health insurance premiums of their employees (i.e. under an effective “salary
sacrifice” arrangement). This benefit is provided with a view to your organisation
being recognised as an “employer of choice”.
Under this option, an applicable level of hospital and ancillary cover is chosen
(i.e. one of each cover type), or a set range of hospital and ancillary covers that cater
for the mainstream health and wellness needs of the vast majority of participating
employees. The cover(s) would be offered to employees as an add-value benefit of
employment with your organisation.
Employees would also be given the flexibility of upgrading either their hospital or ancillary
cover in line with their more specific needs or requirements. In these circumstances,
employees make a personal contribution of the difference in premium between the
employer determined cover(s) and the upgraded cover(s) chosen by the employee.
Alternatively, you could simply choose to make a defined financial contribution (i.e. fixed
amount(s) or percentage) without making a determination as to cover type participation.
As with the upgrade scenario, HIF contemplates that an employee contribution would
occur via an after tax payroll deduction or pre-tax salary sacrifice.

10. Smart solutions for member rewards
Whilst HIF recognises the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles and delivering
above average benefits where possible, we also recognise that there are times when
health insurance services are not being used.
To ensure that our Corporate members continue to get value for money even when
they are not using their health cover, HIF’s Smart Rewards offers employees added
value through a comprehensive choice of ‘everyday services and purchases’ that have
been discounted for HIF’s Corporate Members.
A separate corporate ‘Member Rewards’
card is issued to all corporate members
joining or transferring to HIF.
11. Our loyalty commitment
Your employees can receive immediate savings for their existing HIF private health
insurance policy. If your employee becomes a new member of HIF, most of the normal
waiting periods will be waived, which allows your employees to join and claim almost
immediately. If your employees are transferring from another fund we will recognise
their length of membership with that previous fund and reward them with the
appropriate higher benefits.
