• A material no long used or wanted;

• Something that is not usable

• Something that is intended to be discarded

HAZARDOUS WHEN?????

Dangerous orPotentially Harmful

HCC EXEMPT HAZARDOUS WASTES• Recycled oily rags &

floor dry• Recycled batteries (auto & other)

• Recycled antifreeze• Recycled photographic film

• Recycled Freon/CFC’s

HAZARDOUS WASTE CATEGORIES

• Characteristic – Ignitability – based on flash point–Corrosive – based on pH–Lethal – death if ingested–Toxic - posionous–Oxidizer – gives off oxygen in a

reaction–Reactive – reacts with water/air

• Listed F, K, P, U – this is a list established by the MPCA

So What’s Hazardous????

• Review HCC’s Waste Management Plan

• Solvents – auto, diesel, art, refrigeration
