Whew, it was sure hot a couple of Saturdays ago. Made me want some ice cream. So, let’s practice our rhythm and counting using ice cream cones.

What is your favorite ice cream? What do you think the flavors are that areshown? I’m interested to find out whatthe blue one is.

Just like the peeps we’re going to put stems on the ice cream to show the different rhythms. Try tapping the rhythm on the scoops.

Did you remember to tap/clap twice on the yellow and pink scoops?

Last week we were working on a new song for Play in Peace Day. Do you remember it? For some of us weremember it from last year. I’d like to take a closer look at the words.

May we find peace throughout this day.

May we remember that peace is the way.

Oh, may we reach out, may our differences cease.

May our light shine upon this day of peace.

There are 4 words I’d like to look at. They are “find”, “remember”, “reach”, and “shine”.

What do these words mean to you?The 1st line reads “find peace”. Think about whatthat means and share it with someone. The 2nd line reads “remember that peace is the way”.Think about what is meant by “peace is the way”and share how you can show that every day.

The 3rd line reads “reach out” and includes “may our differences cease”.

What kind of “differences” might we have against someone else that we could stop doing and instead try to understand the other person? Finally, the 4th line reads “May OUR light shine”. What is OUR light? Is it the light bulb in the house orcould it be how we ourselves shine brightly?Share your answers to each of these with someone.
