Heart failure, often called congestive heart failure is an inability of the heart to provide sufficient pump action to distribute blood flow to meet the needs of the body

Heart failure can cause a number of symptoms including shortness of breath, leg swelling, and exercise intolerance

Common causes of heart failure include myocardial infarction and other forms of ischemic heart disease, hypertension, valvular heart disease, and cardiomyopathy.

MEDICINE

cardiac failure in medicine allows many studies in patients to know the different causes that produce disease and lets you know what is best for each type of patients.

Advantage

Advantages of heart failure is that is a disease that can be treated and allows the patient to live with it.

Disadvantages

Mostly as a result of the costs of hospitalization, it is associated with a high health expenditure; costs have been estimated to amount to 2% of the total

Heart failure is associated with significantly reduced physical and mental health, resulting in a markedly decreased quality of life . Although some people survive many years, progressive disease is associated with an overall annual mortality rate of 10%

Issue in Ecuador

In Ecuador Congestive heart failure affects from 50 years for women and 40 for men. Patients with a history of smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol are more susceptible to the disease. The mortality is 50% at one year and five years after diagnosis. The leading causes of death in 2003 were heart failure and related diseases such as cerebrovascular disease, hypertensive disease, ischemic heart disease and diabetes
