Sensuous and curvilinear, Blake Studio tiles are individually-made, sgraffito-carved, high-fired porcelain wall tiles.

Creating the Tiles

Porcelainia-stoneware clay is rolled flat, cut into squares, and draped and smoothed over individual forms

These forms create the undulating quality of our tiles

Creating the TilesOnce firm, the clay tiles are removed from the molds and a slip of red iron oxide is brushed onto them

The design is then carved, free-hand, onto the tiles

This traditional style of carving is called sgraffitto, an Italian term meaning “to scratch”

The carving removes the top layer, revealing the contrasting layer below

When laid next to each other, carved tiles form contiguous or abstract designs of any size wall relief.

The modular format of the tiles can be adapted to suit architectural niches, angles, large or small spaces, and curved walls.

Our high-fired, porcelain tiles are easily cleaned, durable and are suitable for indoor or outdoor applications,

Sample color chips represent our color line only--not our designs.

If your client likes a design on a color chip we can create a design around it

Cleaning Tiles

• Wash with a soft rag or sponge and mild detergent.

• A green 3-M scrub pad can be used gently to remove scuffmarks on most glazes.

• Tiles with matte and porous surfaces should be treated much as one would treat suede; use a clean, non-lint tool such as a toothbrush or lint free cloth to gently lift the dirt out of the glaze pores. Mild soap and water can be used.
