Types of Al Hajj

1. Al Ifrad – Single Hajj The person performing this type of Hajj is called Al Mufrid

2. Al Qiran – Combined Hajj The person performing this type of Hajj is called Al Qarin

3. Al Tamattu – Interrupted Hajj The person performing this type of Hajj is called Al Mutamittu

The Pillars of Umrah & Al-Hajj

Umrah

1. Intention

A pillar is an act which MUST BE DONE, without it the Hajj is invalid.

Hajj

1. Intention

2. Being In Arafat

3. Tawaf Al Ifadah

Wajibat (Duties) of Al-Hajj

1. Al Ihram from the Miqat

2. Staying in Arafat till Maghrib on the day of 9th Dhul Hijjah

3. To spend the night in Muzdalifah on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah

4. Spending the nights of Tashreeq, 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah in Mina

5. Throwing Jamaraat

6. Shaving/Trimming of Hair

7. Tawaf Al-Wida’a

Note: If you miss a Wajib you need to slaughter a sheep for every wajib missed and distribute it in the Haram.

Sunan(Ettiquetes) of Al-Hajj

1. Ghusl(bath) at Ihram

2. White Clothes for Men

3. Talbiyah

4. Spending the night in Mina on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah

5. Kissing the black stone

6. Al-Iddibah – Showing the right shoulder for men in Tawaf Al Umrah.

7. Raml – to speed up the steps in the first 3 rounds of Tawaf Al Umrah.

Note: If you miss a Sunan, there is nothing on you.

Prohibitions of Al Ihram

1. Cutting\Shaving the hair

2. Nail Clipping

3. Covering the head (for men)

4. Clothes for men

- If a person does any of the above out of ignorance or forgetfulness, there is nothing on him\her.- If any of these is done intentionally, the person must do one of three:

1. Fast 3 days2. Sacrifice a sheep3. Feed 6 poor people

5. Wearing perfume in Ihram

6. Hunting

7. Marriage

8. Spousal Relationship
