Hafeez ruled out from series against West Indies due to injury

Pakistan veteran Mohammad Hafeez failed to make into the One Day International squad which

faces West Indies in United Arab Emirates due to health concerns. A member of the selection

committee of Pakistan stated that the Pakistan star batsman Hafeez won’t make into the squad

for three-match ODI series against West Indies due to knee damage. Pakistan’s head coach,

Mickey Arthur is believed to have taken a solid stand on sending Hafeez back to Pakistan

from England after he complained off a calf injury just before the second one-day international

after having failed all over again in the first ODI.

Opener Sami Aslam has also been left out from the squad after he managed to score just 33

runs in three matches he played against England. But, middle-order batsmen Umar Akmal and

Asad Shafiq are all set to make a return to the ODI side against the Caribbean side after

displaying some actually impressive presentations during the recently-concluded National T20

Cup. Umar last represented the country in the 50-over format in the World Cup 2015, whereas

Shafiq last played for Pakistan in the format against Zimbabwe in October last year.

Fast-bowler Rahat Ali, on the other, is also probable to make a return in the ODI squad in place

of Umar Gul, whereas either wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan or opener Khalid Latif will make

it to the final 15-member squad for the series. The official One Day International squad will be

announced on 24th September whereas the Test squad will be revealed well ahead.
