Gungahlin road projects update

• Gundaroo Drive stage 1 duplication

• Gungahlin Drive widening

• Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive intersection upgrade

• Horse Park Drive duplication

• Extension of Manning Clark Crescent and The Valley Avenue, east of Gungahlin town centre.

Gundaroo Drive – stage 1 duplication

Gungahlin Drive widening

Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive intersection upgrade

Horse Park Drive duplication The work will improve traffic flow and

access to Harrison, Gungahlin and the new suburb of Throsby.

Stage 1 started October 2015, and is expected to finish mid-2016.

Stage 2 will start late February 2016, and is due to finish mid-2017.

Roads ACT are currently undertaking design for the duplication of Horse Park Drive between Well Station Drive and Federal Highway and Mulligans Flat Road to Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

This upgrade will provide:

duplication of Horse Park Drive to provide two through lanes in each direction

an upgrade to Anthony Rolfe Avenue, Mapleton Avenue and Well Station Drive intersections including improved pedestrian facilities

a new shared-use path on the Throsby side of Horse Park Drive between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Well Station Road

a pedestrian and cycle underpass linking Throsby with Harrison

on-road cycle lanes

Gungahlin Town Centre East – road extensions

Extending Manning Clark Crescent from Flemington Road to Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

Extending The Valley Avenue from Kate Crace Street intersection to Manning Clark Crescent.

Due to start in late February 2016 and expected to finish in September 2016.

Project Impacts The project will cause some

traffic disruptions

Manning Clark Crescent northbound will be closed for up to 6 months

Intermittent closures of Manning Clark Crescent southbound

ACTION bus 57 and school buses will be rerouted from 15 February

Works will occur across Flemington Road with some limited weekend closures

Outcomes complete ring road network on

eastern side of Gungahlin town Centre

provide improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities via pedestrian paths and on-road cycle lanes

facilitate future development in the area

deliver better access to growing residential communities, employment areas and local businesses

improve traffic flow during the construction phase and operation of the light rail project

Drop-in Information Sessions

CMTEDD and TAMS will hold a drop-in information session for any members of the public interested in an update on Gungahlin Roads projects.
