Pros and Cons ofGun Ownership

So what’s the truth about guns?Should everyone own one?

1.

Well, before we jump into the reasons why owninga firearm is a smart idea, let’s look at some of thedownsides to gun ownership. Yes, the downsides.

It is our responsibility as responsible, law-abidinggun owners to tell the truth about firearms; and thetruth is some people probably shouldn’t own them.

Guns are not for everyone!2.

While I 100% believe that a gun in thehands of a responsible, trained gunowner is a good thing, one in the handsof some guy who has never bothered totake a firearms safety course, or learnhow to use that firearm in a self-defensesituation is downright dangerous.

Having a gun DOES NOT Guarantee your safety.3.

When at the range, some loudmouths say somethinglike, “no one will ever get the drop on me,” or “I’d liketo see that guy break into my house.”

It’s usually the same guy who the range officer singlesout because he’s doing something that is a dangerto himself and everyone on the range.

Carrying a firearm without self-defense trainingis a recipe for disaster.4.

In close quarters combat, the chances of being able tounholster your firearm and return fire on an attacker isactually pretty slim. To be truly prepared, you need to beable to take out an attacker without your gun – or at leastslow him down so you can draw your weapon.

Now that we discussed the importaIt always amazes me how some people can be socaviler with their family’s lives. In my opinion, if you have a family you should have and knowhow to use a gun.

We often hear the anti-gun crowd say things like, “people don’t need firearms, that’s whywe have cops”. Well, those guys can get kind of heavy to carry around.

Protecting yourselfand your family from home

invasionsWhen it comes to preparedness relatedthreats, a home invasion is one of themost likely threats you will face. When itcomes to protecting yourself from thatthreat, you are the only person who cando something to stop the crime and putdown the threat.

Because I have insuranceand a fire extinguisher.

Like most things, look at firearms from apreparedness point of view. And from thatlens, owning a firearm is no different thanbuying fire insurance or a fire extinguisher.

While I hope I never need to use either oneof them, when the time comes not havingthose items could be catastrophic.
