RULE 4

When a singular subject is connected to

a plural subject with OR or NOR, put the

plural subject LAST. Use a PLURALVERB.

a plural subject with EITHER/OR or

Use a PLURAL VERB with two or more

subjects connected by AND.

RULE 7

Sometimes, a subject is separated from

the verb by groups of words. Ignore

these expressions, look for the subjectand determine if it needs a singular or 

plural verb.

The pronouns, EACH, EVERYONE,

EVERY ONE, EVERYBODY, ANYONE,

For words indicating portions (percent,

fraction, part, majority, some, all, none,

remainder, etc.) look at the OF PHRASEto determine if a singular or plural verb is

needed.

In sentences beginning with HERE and

THERE, the subject follows the verb.
