Bellwork – Send me a note on edmodo what you think is the same and what you
think is different about these two graphics…
What is Clip Art? • Predefined graphics (ready
made illustrations) included in a software package that you can insert into any document, publication, etc.
• Found in the Clip Art Organizer
Bitmap Graphics vs Vector Graphics
• Bitmap Graphics– Made up of colored pixels• very small rectangles
of varying colors that together give you an image. • They do not enlarge
well• Usual file formats
include .gif, .jpeg .png
Bitmap Graphics vs Vector Graphics
• Vector Graphics–Made up of
mathematical expressions and instructions to produce lines, curves, shapes
–Will not lose quality when enlarged
Transparent vs Opaque• Opaque– Every pixel in the image is visible.
• Transparent– Every pixel in the image is either
completely visible or completely see-through.
– In the image, the white background could be transparent so that what's "underneath" the image shows through when it is drawn.
File Formats & Transparency
• File Formats that SUPPORT Transparency– PSD– GIF– TIFF– PNG
• File Formats that DO NOT SUPPORT Transparency– BMP– JPEG
What did you Learn??• Look at the two images on slide
