What to Wear

Under Gown - Girls

• Dress or pants (all black pant suit or romper is okay); black DRESS shoes; (no shorts or jeans) – No athletic shoes or flip flops

– Shoes you can walk in easily; no heel to exceed 3 inches in height

• Hair: must be natural human color – Remember that you will be wearing a cap.

– No bandanas or scarves on heads under/over caps.

• Piercings must follow school policies (no facial piercings)

*Failure to follow this will result in you NOT WALKING during graduation. This will be checked prior to graduation by your Faculty Captain at Check-in

• Dark slacks (no jeans) and black or brown DRESS shoes – No athletic shoes or flip flops

• White collared dress shirt and ties (NO BOW TIES) • Piercings must follow school policies (no facial piercings) • Hair ABOVE base of collar; natural human color

– Remember, hair has to fit under cap – No bandanas or scarves on heads under/over caps.

• Clean shaven (no stubble) – If you do not shave, clippers will be provided or you will not walk

during graduation.

Diploma Tickets

• Ticket given when you check in at graduation.

• Place ticket in your pocket until end of ceremony.

• If you do not have pockets, place ticket behind your STPSB pin located on your WHITE STOLE (white sash with SHS Crest and 2018)

• After ceremony, go directly to the table that matches the color on your ticket to retrieve your diploma. Give ticket to person at table.

There will be 6 color coded tables.

AFTER THE CEREMONY, find the table that has the same color as your ticket.

Pre-Ceremony • Arrival Time: 6:15 p.m.; Check in at this time and

remain in your line (enter through Gates 3 & 5) – Maps will be provided at Graduation Practice

• *Traffic will be bad in Mandeville, leave in plenty of time

• Look for your teacher captain when checking in (you will learn this at your practices)

• Come dressed and ready; any violations to dress code, hair, and behavior will result in NOT WALKING; Captains will be checking this and giving you diploma tickets upon arrival

• STAY IN LINE ONCE YOU CHECK IN!

Ceremony Etiquette/Manners

• No Gum chewing

• No cell phone usage

• No talking during speeches, songs, and presentations

• No inappropriate dancing or yelling when walking or as others walk across the stage.

• Respect those around you.

• Return to your seat promptly after receiving your diploma

Senior Obligations

• On Friday, April 20th, we will be setting up a “Senior Obligation Collection Day” in the library. – We will have several tables set up for the collection of

all senior obligations, including textbooks. – During 1st-4thperiod, students will be called by

hallways to report to the library.

• Any outstanding obligations that are not taken care of on April 20th will be collected on the following Friday, April 27th, in the auditorium. APRIL 27TH will be the absolute last day for the collection of obligations.

Additional Information • Seating arrangements, directions to SELU, maps

of SELU and diagrams of where to sit will be provided to you on May 1st (practice at Slidell High in gym).

• You will receive caps, gowns, stoles, STPPS pins, tiger strip pins, and additional information at this practice. Class Rank and top 5%, 10%, and 15% will be given at this time as well.

• For those with an outstanding balance with Herff Jones for Graduation supplies – balance must be paid in full or you will not get their cap and gown.

Additional Information

• Students who will need to ride a bus to practice on 5/3/18 may sign up in the main office.

• We need the names of students whose parents work for STPSB and the location of their workplace – tell main office.

• Students not walking need to notify the office no later than 4/27/18.

Reminders • No special seating for family; SELU has

elevators and handicap accommodations

• You will not be able to receive deliveries of flowers or balloons before ceremony. Have family hold this until after ceremony.

• Noise makers are prohibited by SELU. You may applaud your friends, but ALL must be considerate during the ceremony.

• This is a dignified ceremony—behave appropriately

Schedule

• May 1st –Grad. Practice—Slidell High Gym; arrive by 9:20 a.m. – Awards Night – SHS Auditorium –7:00 p.m.

• May 3rd–Grad. Practice—SELU University Center; arrive by 11:20 a.m. – Senior Slide Show –SHS Auditorium–7:00 p.m.

• May 7th –Graduation—SELU University Center—be in line by 6:15 p.m.
