Good afternoon. Welcome to the

ACADEMIC CENTER!

Group Norms

Academic Center workers

Routine…• Must present work to teachers in order to enter the Academic

Center promptly at 2:15. You will be sent home if you are late or do not have anything to work on!

• Sign in at the entrance to the room and begin working on the puzzle (“Do Now”) at the board.

• Work quietly and ask for help from teachers if needed! Must complete work at desk first before moving to computers.

• At the end you must fill out an Exit Slip, explaining what you worked on. You must turn this into a teacher on your way out. You will receive a ticket for a raffle for doing this and working the whole time. (1 prize per month!)

• Need to get a bus ticket in order to take buses home. (If you have a ride and need to leave early, one of the teachers will walk you out to your ride.)

Important Policies…

• We will strictly enforce all policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook even though the Academic Center is after school.

• Students CANNOT talk/horseplay with others.

• Sleeping or putting your head down is NOT tolerated.

Behavioral Consequences:

Goals of Academic Center:

• You get the help you need on homework and topics you are having trouble with in your core classes.

• Provide an atmosphere where you can study and complete work.

Exciting things to come in the Academic Center:

• Enrichment Hours-Book Club-ACT Prep/Test Strategies-Language Lab for AP students

• Academic Clubs/Activities-Debate research-Math Club-Documentary viewings
