LEADER BIBLE STUDY In the previous session, we reviewed God’s creative process for populating the earth
with a variety of living animals. Now we turn to the creation of humanity. Notice
that God made an immeasurable leap in His value of humans relative to the rest of
creation. He created mankind, both male and female, in His image (Genesis 1:27).
This means that humans have characteristics like God Himself. We can communicate
in complex languages and can make moral choices. Most importantly, we have a
spiritual nature and can have a personal relationship with God.
God commanded the man and woman to procreate and be stewards of His
creation. He provided them with food and a perfect environment to live.
Genesis 2 provides details of God’s creation of man, called Adam in chapter 3.
God made the man from the dust of the earth. Unlike the animals created earlier, God
breathed life into the man! God placed him in a beautiful garden. He told the man to
name the animals. No creature, however, was adequate as a companion for the man,
so God put him to sleep and formed a woman from his rib. Today’s study ends with
the biblical definition of marriage.
What does it mean that humans are stewards of God’s earth?

Why is God’s definition of marriage so significant (Genesis 2:24)? (See Jesus’
affirmation: Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9.)

GOD MADE PEOPLE—Based on Genesis 1:26-31; 2:7,15-24
God had created a beautiful world. The last thing God made was people.
God said, “People will be different from the other things made. They will rule over
the animals, fish, and birds. They will care for the earth.”
God had spoken to create everything else He had made. This time He used
dust from the ground and made a man. God breathed life into the man.
God put the man in the garden of Eden to work in it and take care of it.
God said, “You can eat from any tree but one. Do not eat from that special tree.”
God said, “The man should not be alone.”
God brought the animals to the man. The man named all the animals. But
God knew that none of the animals would be the right kind of helper for the man.
God made the man fall asleep. He took a rib from the man and made a woman.
The man’s name was Adam. The woman was Eve. (Genesis 3:20) They were
the first people.
►Recall the Bible story. Add “people” to your list of things God made. Show Teaching
Picture 3. Direct the kids to tell a friend one thing they remember about the story. As
the kids are seated, ask them to tell everyone what they heard or what they told.
►Tell the Life Point: God made people. Guide the kids to say the words with you.
►Learn a Bible verse. Display Deuteronomy 5:16 and show where it is found in the
Bible. Tell the kids that when God made people He made mothers and fathers. Say
the verse with the kids. Ask a volunteer to roll a numbered cube. Count that many
kids. Tell those kids to stand and say the verse together. Ask another volunteer to roll
the cube and count a different group of kids to say the verse. Repeat a few times.
►Sing. Play and sing “God Made You and Me” (track 1).
►Wrap it up. Show the “God Made People: Life Action” video.

the circle. As kids toss, they can say one word of
the Life Point, repeating it over and over. Catch the
ball and recall the Bible story. Start tossing the ball
again, saying the words of Deuteronomy 5:16 or
Genesis 1:1.

GOD MADE YOU AND ME
God made the day,
God made the night,
God made everything,
Yes, that’s right!
God made the sun,
God made the moon,
God made everything,
Yes, it’s true!
He made the world, so big and round,
Oceans blue and fluffy clouds,
Chirping birds and buzzing bees,
God made you and me.

UNIT 1, SESSION 3
God had created a beautiful world. The last thing God made was people. God said, “People will be different from the other things made. They will rule over the animals, fish, and birds. They will care for the earth.” God had spoken to create everything else He had made. This time He used dust from the ground and made a man. God breathed life into the man. God put the man in the garden of Eden to work in it and take care of it. God said, “You can eat from any tree but one. Do not eat from that special tree.” God said, “The man should not be alone.” God brought the animals to the man. The man named all the animals. But God knew that none of the animals would be the right kind of helper for the man. God made the man fall asleep. He took a rib from the man and made a woman. The man’s name was Adam. The woman was Eve. (Genesis 3:20) They were the first people.
GOD MADE PEOPLE—Based on Genesis 1:26-31; 2:7,15-24

West Africa
KIMBERLY CAIN
Bible Studies For Life Kindergarten, Fall 2016 © 2016 LifeWay. Published in the United States of America
Children all over the world are important to Jesus. He loves them and wants them to learn about Him when they are very young. Christian workers, like Kimberly Cain in West Africa, love the children like Jesus does.
Sometimes Kimberly teaches kids as they sit on mats on the dusty ground. Sometimes she teaches kids at a local church where the roof is made of woven grass. That church building might not look like yours, but the children in West Africa are learning the same stories from the Bible that you are!
Kimberly uses a storying cloth to tell stories from the Bible. Each picture on the cloth tells a story. Kimberly tells children the story of creation and continues with stories about Jesus so children can grow up knowing Him and telling others about Him.
Ways to pray for the people and missionaries in West Africa:
• Pray that missionaries will be willing and able to learn the language spoken by the people so they can tell the people about Jesus.
• Pray for missionaries as they adjust to a different culture in a part of the world where the temperature stays very hot all year.
• Pray that the children of West Africa will learn to follow Jesus at a young age.
