Global Citizen Monthly Theme
Our monthly themes guide our entire school in nurturing responsible global citizens.
We encourage families to discuss these themes at home. Our global citizen monthly
theme for February is:
BALANCE
At PSD Global Academy, we feel that world citizens understand how to find balance
in school and in life. In our online classes, it is especially important for students to
manage their time. Plus, we know that time management is a critical piece in finding
a balance in all aspects of our lives at all ages. The concept of life balance has been
discussed in all of our enrichment classes K-12. For example, PGA’s high school
mentorship class has been examining life priorities, graphing personal time
management, and creating goals for a fulfilling and balanced life. Please take some
time to share with your child how you manage balancing your home, work, family
responsibilities, health and wellness. Feel free to be honest about how it can be
difficult to balance everything, and include strategies you use to overcome
the challenges.
I wish you and your families a healthy, balanced, and fulfilled life -
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Mrs. Hiebsch

Celebrations & Student Highlights
Middle School Student Highlight (6-8)
Bethany Bells is in her first year at PGA. Beth has shown
strong leadership as an 8th grader, leading by example by
keeping up with progress in her classes, participating in
enrichment, being a member of student council, and
attending many school sponsored social events. Beth’s
inquisitive nature and desire to learn drive her to look
further into her coursework than just meeting assignment
requirements. She comes to class and study sessions eager
to learn and to contribute positively in individual and
group activities with questions and insights that help her teacher and her classmates
grow.
High School Student Highlight (9-12)
Michal Schlup. Michal has been a rockstar freshmen this
year, and is once again off to an awesome start in his
classes. Eager to participate in Enrichment projects and
activities, Michal is active in many areas of the PGA
community. His positive attitude and strong time
management have made him an awesome hybrid student!
Keep rocking, Michal!
Elementary School Student Highlight (K-5)
Anastasia Leyendecker is a 3rd grade student who attends
Enrichment. Ana always comes to school with a smile on
her face and a positive attitude! Ana is a role model for all
her classmates as well as a good friend. Ana loves to
read, and puts great effort into all of her classwork. Ana
is definitely a student who demonstrates our SOAR
code. Keep up the great work Ana!

School Accountability Committee (SAC)
The School Accountability Committee met on January 15 to
finalize PGA’s academic goals for the 2013-2014 School
Improvement Plan and report to the Colorado Department of
Education. While we celebrated all of the amazing
accomplishments and growth of students across grade levels and
content areas, we also focused on the need for more direct
instruction for middle school students. The solutions discussed included increasing
campus intervention participation, greater parent involvement in Learning Coach
professional development training events, and supervision of LC passwords.
The School Accountability Committee is a volunteer group made up of parents, staff,
and community members.
