GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY
ON THE
MCKINLEY LAKE GRID (NEW NORTH/SOUTH GRID)THACKERAY TOWNSHIP
LARDER LAKE MINING DIVISION DISTRICT OF COCHRANE, ONTARIO
INTRODUCTION
The claim group consists of theee (3) (8 Units) contiguous mining claims located in the central southeast corner of Thackerey Township. Access to the property is via the Garrison-Thackeray access road and secondary logging roads. (See Figures la and Ib).
Ownership of the claims has been attested to by Perrex Resources Inc. of 103 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and was not inde pendently ascertained by the writer.
On May 11, 1999, new North/South baseline was turned off at claim post Mo. 2 of claim L-982301 Picket lines were established every 200 feet and stations cut and measured at 100 ft. intervals. All line cutting and chaining was performed by Jim Hennessey and crew, two geophysics surveys were completed by Gwen Resources Ltd. All maps, report writing were completed by Miss Wendy K. Weller.

GENERAL GEOLOGY
The O.G.S. Report 165, titled Geology of Thackeray, Elliott, Tannahill and Dokis Townships, by L. S. Jensen indicates the predominate underlying bedrock is mainly basaltic and andesitic volcanic rocks of the Tholeiite Suite. These rocks are dark grey green iron rich and magnesium rich tholeiites, consisting of massive fine grained flows and

and pillowed lavas.
The trend of these flows appears to be northeast-southwest.
These lava flows are part of a large area of volcanism known as the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. This belt is part of a large east trending synclinorium. This synclinorium occurs between two major fault structures, the Destor-Porcupine Fault occurring on the northern edge and the Larder Lake Fault on the southern boundary. (See Figure le - Table of Lithology).
TOPOGRAPHY
There are 3 main lakes in this survey, in the northeast corner is McKinley Lake, in the south-west corner is" Vinkle Lake and the south-east corner is Armitage Lake. West side of Grid stops at THACKERAY
LAKE SYSTEM.The terrain is flat to steep sloping glacial eskers. The
vegetation throughout the claim block is jackpine replant to poplar, birch and alder.
INSTRUMENTATION
Magnetometer Survey:
This system uses a backward motion of spinning protons of a hydrogen atom within a fluid of hydrogen and carbon. These spinning magnetic protons are caused to have two opposite poles by applying a magnetic field using a current within a coil of wire. When the current is stopped, the protons precess about the earth's magnetic field and in turn generate a small current in the wire. This frequency of precession is proportional to the earth's total magnetic field.
This instrument is read directly in gammas which is the absolute value of the earth's total field for that station.
Electromagnetic Survey:
The VLF-EM method uses as a source, several of the main submarine communications transmitters in the 15 to 25 kHz band found throughout the world.
The submarine communication radio waves travel in a single mode parallel to the surfaces of the earth along the earth-air interace.
VLF instruments are capable of picking up any structures that change the direction of the waves by measuring the tilt angle being zero on flat ground, but when a conductor is present, the tilt angle will acquire a finite value. The direction of tilt indicates the direction of the conductor.

Calculations of such paramaters as depth, depth extent, dip and width of the conductors is very minimal.
The VLF easily illustrates the location of the upper limit of dipping structures which can be seen or plotted as VLF profiles as areas of greatest change in tilt angle per unit of distance.
The instrument used for this survey was a Geonics EM-16 Unit, The sensitivity of this unit is li for the inphase and IX for the qua drature. The iperating frequency for the EM-16 from 15.25 kHz and the station is made by plug-in units.
Further information on the VLF and the magnetometer can be found in the back of this report on the Technical Data and Assessment forms.
PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Detail Magnetometer Survey:
The field data is presented on two maps at a horizontal scale of one inch to two hundred feet, map number THL/99/mag.
The magnetic relief ranged from a low of 57,666 gammas to 58,888 gammas. The magnetic trend is in a north to north east direction.
The magnetic trend is very low which indicates little change in the host rock.
EIectromagheti c Survey:
The field data is presented on the map THL/99/vlf, at a scale of one to two hundred feet, found at the back of this report.
In this survey three distinctive anomalies were found.
CI - Crosses PL3200E 2810N to PL3600E 2910N.This contact is found along the very steep east side of the large glacial esker that borders Thackeray Lake. The vegetation varies from jackpine replant to alder, poplar and birch.
C2 - Crosses PL3200E 2180N to PL3600E 2400N.The contact is found in a small gorge between two very steep glacial eskers.
C3 - Crosses PL3000E 1050S to PL3600E 900S.This contact crosses the top of one of the very steep glacial eskers. The vegetation varies from jackpine replant to alder, birch second growth.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Due to the overburden and no exposed outcrop, it is difficult to present a clear picture of the underlying geology.
There is a large magnetic low band in the center section of the grid mirrored by two large magnetic high anomalies trending in a northeast direction.
The second half of the new north/south grid is being comple ted and will be read with both instruments. A Horizontal Loup program is being discussed to help define the origins of the contacts of the VLF-EM survey. A Fraser Filter is also being run over the VLF-EM survey to help eliminate topography contacts.
Respectfully submitted,
June 10, 1999 Miss Wendy K. WellerGeotech
