• If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you. Lev. 25:35

As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

Luke 21:1-4

God measures generous giving not by the size of the gift, but by the size of the sacrifice.

And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. 2In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the LORD's people. 5And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the LORD, and then by the will of God also to us.II Cor. 8:1-5

Generosity Definition (Chip Ingram)

•Hebrew = To saturate with water

•Greek = Ready to distribute

•A life overflowing with care and concern for others

Generosity in all of life.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Romans 12:1 (your reasonable service KJV)

Ownership

Oikonomia Greek word from where we get our word economy = household management (Whereby the head of the household has entrusted the management of his affaires to someone else.)

•He owns it all already.

•Out time = Psalm 90:12

•Our spouse = Prov. 19:14

•Our property = Luke 16:12

•Our spiritual gifts = Romans 12:6

•God’s truth = I Cor. 4:1

•Our body = I Cor. 6:19-20

Living Under God’s Lordship.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. Matthew 16:24

Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow You." Mark 10:28

"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 16:25

Giving 10%? Or More? Or Less?

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” II Cor. 9:7

Micah 6:8 Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God.

Contentment

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Hebrews 13:5

"I have learned, in whatever state I am, therewith to be content."-Philippians 4:11

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought

nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if

we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

I Timothy 6:6-8

Consider what God has done for you. Romans 8:32
