SKY RINK
A NOTE FROM THE GM
Dear Sky Rink Friends and Families:
This past year we celebrated our 20th Anniversary at Chelsea
Piers. It was wonderful to reflect on the amazing customers
who have continuously made Sky Rink their home away from
home. While we have undergone a number of renovations
and improvements throughout the years, our commitment to
providing skaters of all ages and abilities with state-of-the-
art facilities and the highest level of instruction available has
remained our top priority.
We are constantly looking for ways to enhance our current
programming options. In the spring of 2015 we introduced
the CP 61s travel program. This year we will continue to
build upon this new model while exploring additional ways
to improve many of our other programs, including Top Shelf,
Junior and Elite Prep and Summer Champions Camp.
We are also excited to introduce our brand new Sky Rink
registration system, making its debut in the summer of 2016.
All customers will be required to create a new account in
order to sign up for all programming in the future. This new
system will allow customers to track, sign up and pay for all
of their activities in one place.
We understand you have choices when it comes to skating
in New York City – thank you again for choosing Sky Rink.
While we work to improve every day, we are always eager for
any feedback or suggestions you may have.
We hope you are as excited as we are about the upcoming
year. See you on the ice!
Sincerely,
Jim Bugenhagen
General Manager

SKATING SCHOOL
Sky Rink has been teaching New York City children and adults the fun and excitement of ice skating and hockey since 1969.
Sky Rink Skating School offers recreational group skating lessons for skaters of all
ages in both figure skating and hockey using a progressive, group-based format.
Skating School follows the ISI weSKATE curriculum, which maintains that skills
learned at each level build on the preceding ones. Classes are divided by age group,
including tots, children and adults. Our professional coaches include former national
and international champions and Olympic competitors.
Skating School offers the flexibility of choosing your start date with ongoing
enrollment. To maximize learning, enrollment for a complete semester (Fall, Winter,
Spring, Summer) is recommended. If you join once the semester has started, class
fees are prorated.
Please review the 2016 Calendar on pages 8 and 9 for Skating School weeks and
holiday schedules.
LEARN TO SKATE CLASSESTots & Tots After-school Program (3 - 5 years)
Our youngest students learn how to stand and balance on their own, as well as the
basics of forward and backward skating. Weekday after-school classes consist of 20
minutes of off-ice instruction (warming up and stretching), plus 30 minutes of on-ice
instruction. Weekend classes consist of 30 minutes of on-ice instruction. Skate and
helmet rentals are provided for each student. Complimentary admission and skate
rentals are available for one parent/guardian per tot to skate during the General
Skating session on the day of class.
Children (6 - 17 years)
Children participate in a 30-minute group class once a week — on the day of your
choice — for the semester. Classes are divided according to ability level. Admission
to the General Skating session on the day of your class is included. Skate rental is
additional.
Adults (18+ years)
Sunday Adult Skating School classes consist of 30 minutes of on-ice instruction.
Participants receive up to three additional hours of complimentary ice time during the
General Skating session immediately following the class. Skate rental is additional.
For a weekday option, please see our Monday Adult Skate Night class.

JUNIOR + LADY CP 61sYouth Development Program
(5-12 years)
Our development programs (previously known as River
Rats & Girls River Rats) are designed for players who are
not quite ready to participate at league level play. In these
instructional programs, young players are introduced to
the fundamental skills of hockey in a fun and positive
learning environment. The curriculum is based on skill-in-
tensive drills modified to meet the needs of beginners. On
Saturdays, players are divided by ability for inter-squad,
cross-ice games in order to help develop game experi-
ence and prepare them for the CP 61s travel program.
Program Highlights
• Expanded, skill-intensive curriculum
• Cross-ice teams are divided by playing ability
• Low player-to-coach ratio
• Fun environment to meet the needs of young players
• Structured, planned practices with little down time
• Player progression to higher skill levels as they
develop and improve throughout the season
• Goal of progression during the course of the season
in order to move players to a higher level of skill
development

TOP SHELF HOCKEY TRAINING CENTER
Sky Rink’s Top Shelf Hockey Training Center is a state-of-the-art training space
designed for competitive youth (ages 6+) and adult hockey players. With the
latest generation of equipment and proven training protocols, Top Shelf Hockey
offers unparalleled services and Athletic Republic-certified coaching for players
interested in taking their game to the next level.
Skate Mill Speed & Strength Training
Players skate on our Athletic Republic-patented skating treadmill
using their own skates. The skating treadmill can reach speeds
of 16 MPH and an incline grade of 36.5 degrees. This machine,
combined with the short duration/high intensity sprinting
sequences that simulate hockey shifts, delivers the most sport-
specific conditioning program possible to every athlete that walks
into Top Shelf. Players are taught proper stride mechanics at high
speeds and learn to self-correct in three ways: real-time visual – by
training in front of a mirror; auditory – through the coach’s cues;
and video replay – through Dartfish video motion analysis. All
contribute to improved stride mechanics.
Skills Zone Shooting & Skills Development
Players improve their individual skills training on Top Shelf’s artificial
ice Skills Zone. Skill Development workouts include drills that
focus on stick handling, shooting, off-balance accuracy, soft hands,
passing, toe drags, dekes, shooting technique and power, obstacle
stick handling, puck control and goalie skills.
Private Lessons Individual & Group Lessons
Private lessons are available for both youth and adult hockey
players and are taught by our Athletic Republic-certified coaching
staff. Lessons can be taken individually or as a group.
Price may vary by coach.
