Shock & Denial Anesthesia School is easy. I’ll have time for my family. I’ll have time for a life.

Pain & Guilt How fast does CO2 rise? Need Sleep.. Send the kids to grandma’s. Can’t do it, graduation is when?

Anger & Bargaining God smite my MDA. Please grant me the serenity to shut

up.

Depression, Reflection & Loneliness How will I get thru BioChemisty? It’s a dog eat dog world.. Does anyone else feel this way?

The Upward Turn I finished my Research paper. My class load is over. That is not a train…

Reconstruction & Working Thru Putting things together. Preload is wall tension? Negative Pressure Pulmonary Edema?

Acceptance & Hope Graduation in 8 months.

6 months for the Valley Students. I will get thru. I will pass my boards.

Anesthesia Student uses for a Blog. Empower the Student. Support. Act as a Resource. Pose Questions.

R/t the Clinical setting. From class. Discuss cases.

Parameters of a blog. Private vs. Public Topic Instructor Participation? Amount of Blogger participation? Amount of Reader Participation?

Topic of my Research Paper. A Weblog for Anesthesia Students, would it be

useful? Other issues

Would students utilize a blog? If so, how often? Would Instructor involvement preclude usage?

Why I chose this Topic? Struggles of Anesthesia School Nurses not supporting Nurses Lack of a Student Support System Ventilation r/t the “Experience” A Place to Exchange Information.

Other Programs utilizing blogs. Law Schools Both Graduate & Undergraduate Sciences. Advanced Nursing Degrees.

Literature Review None r/t SRNA and Blogs. More r/t other programs. It discussed why people blogged.

Self expression. Coping. Community. Affirmation.

Literature Review continued. Address questions to the whole class. Allows students to teach and learn. Clarification of misinterpreted points.

Method for my Research Paper. 10 question qualitative questionnaire. Data Collection thru SurveyMonkey. IRB approval was not necessary. Consent was implied thru completion. Completion was voluntary. Sent to Excela students

Incoming students, Juniors & Seniors.

Questionnaire Examples of questions:

Age, gender & student status. Experience blogging. Reasoning you would utilize a blog. Impact of anonymity. Impact of instructor participation. Frequency of use.

Results 75% never utilized a blog. 53% would not utilize a blog. 61% would visit it monthly. Primary reasons to visit:

Student support r/t clinical setting. Support r/t class load.
