MotivationMotivation

How do you differentiate a boy from a girl?

• The female reproductive system functions to produce female gametes called ovum.

• The main female reproductive organs include:

      (a)   ovary      (b)   uterus      (c)   Fallopian tube      (d)   vagina      (e)   cervix

Figure below shows the main parts of the male reproductive system.

The ovaries are located in the left and right lower abdomen. Ovaries produce eggs as well as hormones like estrogen and progesterone.

The fallopian tubes are the thin, soft tubes that extend from the uterus to the ovaries. During ovulation, an ovary releases an egg into the fallopian tube next to it.

Also called the womb, the uterus is a hollow, pear-shaped organ with a muscular wall and a lining. The uterus expands many time in size during pregnancy to hold the growing fetus.

The cervix is the lower portion of the uterus that opens into the vagina. During labor, the cervix dilates (expands) to about 4 inches in diameter.

The vagina is the tube-like organ that connects the uterus to the outside of the body. The birth of a baby follows its path.

The vagina is the tube-like structure that connects the uterus to the outside of the body. The birth of a baby follows its path.

The urethra is the tube-like structure that carries urine out of the body.

The clitoris is the small sensory organ located just above the vagina.

The labia minora are the two inner flaps of tissue, just inside the labia majora, that surround the opening of the vagina.

The labia majora are the two outer flaps of tissue that surround the labia minora and vagina.

The anus is the opening between the buttocks where feces leave the body
