+The Twitter Profile Page
+ASN Twitter Profile Page
+ Twitter 101: BASICS Twitter consists of short 140
character phrases known as “tweets”
Conversations, photo, video and URL links can be shared in what’s called a Twitter “feed”
@Handle – Anything with an @ symbol before it identifies the Twitter profile user’s name which can be either an individual, business or group
#Hashtag – Anything with # before it identifies a word that can be searchable, a category/topic or designates a specific conversation like #artsedTweet
+ Follow other handles, retweet (RT) & favorite content, respond to other “Tweeps” tweets to further engage in conversation
Fantastic for: information gathering, connecting with people/organizations, asking questions, customer service/audience engagement tool and a teaching/learning tool in the classroom
Live Tweeting: Follow a specific #hashtag at conferences, events and for use in classrooms
Popular Hashtags: #TwitterChats, #EduTues, #STEAM, #ArtsEdTech, #ArtsEd, #EduChat

12 Ways Teachers are Using Social Media in the Classroom: A Guidebook (via Edutopia)“The myth about social media in the classroom is that if you use it, kids will be Tweeting, Facebooking and Snapchatting while you’re trying to teach…”
@edutopia
Don’t mistake social media for socializing. They’re different!
+ Basic Twitter Etiquette
Set up a Twitter profile with a recent photo of yourself
Start following people in your field
Retweet other people’s content “Favorite” things you like
Engage in conversation with others and interact on a regular basis
Post photos, videos and links to websites and other important info
HAVE FUN!
Leave the “egg” profile photo – it looks like a spam account
Try and compose a normal sentence – learn Twitter lingo! (It’s good to leave 7-10 extra characters too)
Retweet a bunch of tweets in a row – spread them out
Tweet once in a blue moon – be active on a daily basis!
Spend all day on Twitter! I recommend going back only 1 hour’s worth of content
Be rude
Do: Don’t:
