FORMAT GRAPHS IN POWERPOINT! Behold the Mighy .EMF file!

GRAPHS FOR PRESENTATIONS - HAVE YOU EVER?

Wanted to match a specific template, but Stata didn’t have the font/color?

Found a typo five minutes before you had to speak?

WHAT IS AN EMF?

One of many file extensions that you can save a graph as (.jpeg, .gif, .png, etc)

The ONLY vector format recognized by Microsoft Office (for now)

Stands for Enhanced MetaFile (but that doesn’t matter).

.PNG – THE CLASSIC

• Looks the same as the Stata output

• Totally static – you can’t change it

• May have some re-sizing issues

• This is essentially a painting of your data

.EMF – THE NEW GUY

BEFORE

• Can’t easily adjust the font

• Can’t make colors perfectly match template

• Obviously from Stata

AFTER

• Easy to tweak positioning, font, color, and more

• Can re-group for easy repositioning/resizing

• Won’t lose quality when made poster size
