The Prostate Cancer Centre is a non-profit organization established in 1999 that focuses on the early detection and treatment of prostate cancer. We support excellence in prostate cancer awareness, education, diagnosis, treatment, advocacy and research with the ultimate goal of eliminating advanced prostate cancer. Annually thousands of men and their families access multiple programs and services at our Centre In addition, over 5,000 men visit our MAN VAN program throughout Southern Alberta. We operate solely on the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors.

THE MAN VAN PROGRAM
The MAN VAN program is Canada’s first and only mobile PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) testing program. These are highly visible mobile clinics that increase awareness of the importance of early prostate cancer detection by offering on-the-spot baseline PSA blood testing at a variety of locations throughout Calgary and rural Alberta.
The Centre operates two MAN VANs: the urban Van is committed to serving Calgary and the surrounding communities, while the rural Van travels to communities throughout rural Alberta. The Vans are operated by a team of 4 or 5; a driver, a clinic host, who is a prostate cancer survivor and two or three clinical staff responsible for drawing blood.
THE URBAN MAN VAN
Balancing work, family and a social life keeps men busy. Prostate health is not always top-of mind. It can be very difficult for men to fit regular doctor visits into their schedules. That is why the Prostate Cancer Centre launched the first MAN VAN in 2009. Our professional staff travel with the MAN VAN to offer free PSA testing to men over 40. No appointment is necessary.
The MAN VAN is equipped with leather seats and a flat-screen TV to create an environment where men can relax while taking charge of their health.

THE RURAL MAN VAN
In 2012, the MAN VAN program expanded to include the rural MAN VAN, a 32’ motorcoach custom built as a mobile PSA blood testing clinic. Staff can test up to three participants simultaneously, and draw as many as 20 blood samples in one hour. The rural MAN VAN is partially funded through Combines for Cures™, a rural initiative pioneered by agribusiness that is committed to increasing awareness of the importance of early detection.
