I. Presentation.

The scholarship program seeks to address the issue of inadequate access to educationfor students who lack the economic resources to support their educational goals.

This FUNDEMAC project is holistic and comprehensive in nature. It concentrates on issues linked to education such as parent involvement, health care, nutrition, and educational innovation.

II. Why sponsor scholarships in El Salvador?.

Education,seenandunderstoodasapillarofhumandevelopmentandestablishedasauniversalhumanright,becomestranscendentalinthelivesofpeopleandaneedfortheadvancementofsocieties.

Wheneducationislinkedwithotherrightssuchashealthandemploymentitsimportanceisevenmoredramaticinachievingtheserights.

Most children in rural areas only

reach the fourth or fifth grade.

Education is the best way to createopportunitiesand improve thequalityof lifeof individuals, families and communities. Itisimperativethatchildrenandyoungpeoplecan have the chance to access school with ample opportunities to complete theirtechnicalorhighereducation.

The SSP will be a contributing factor infacillitating greater access to educationproviding material and financial rescourcesthat allow students to continue their education.

III. What does sponsoring a student entail?.A scholarship in the SSPwill facilitate a friendshipbetweenthesponsorandstudentthatisethicalandthatisoneofsolidarityandrespect.Thescholarshipis for studentswhoaremarginalizedandwill allowthestudenttoexcellacademically.

IV. What are the goals of the program?.1.Topermitstudentswhoareinsomewayexcluded

or marginalized in rural, semi-urban and urbanareas access to education.

2.To raise the level of education attained bydisadvantagedstudentsthroughscholarships.

V. Concepts.Scholarship.AgrantordonationthatsupportstheeducationalneedsofthestudentintheSSPprogramthatallowsheorshe to begin and continue their stdies.

Thisgrant is intended tocover thecostsof school supplies, uniforms,shoes, school fees, transportationandfood.

Moreover, with this fund, thediffrent program components areimplmented.

FriendIt is that person or entity that provides economically altruisticbenefit of the academic training ofchildren and young people of lowincome.Alsocalledsponsor.

Scholarship recipient.It’s a child, adolescent or youth who receives a scholarship that allows them to start, continue and finishtheir studies.

Components.The six areas that make up theSSP, which will allow it to becomprehensive and is oriented to

thegreatergoodofthegrantholder.The components are: buildingfriendships between sponsors andgrant holders, academic supportto the scholarship holder, promoterecreation, culture and sport, school innovation, technology andeducational management, healthsupporttothegrantholders.

The Academic Levels are:

Kindergarten, Elementary School,

Junior High School, High School and

Higher Education.

VI. Types of Scholarships by Model of Study.

Classroom Education Model.

This typeof educationhasa greater link betweenstudentandteacher.Thestudenthastimetoattendtheschoolwhereheacquiresmostoftheirlearningthroughtheinterventionofateacher.

Semipresential Model.

Education on Weekends. This educational modelhas lesscontactbetweenstudent-teacher.Spendsmore individual time during the week, dependingon theirschedules.Theadvantage is thatyoucancombineworkandstudyinamoreoptimalway.

Distance Education Model.Distance education is an educational approach in which no classroom attendance is required in theclassroom.

Normally,theschoolprovidesacomputingplatformand,throughit,theteachergivesclasses

VII. Selecting scholarship recipients.TheFoundationliketheirfriendsfromtheScholarship Sponsorship Program wishtobenefitthegreatestnumberofchildren,adolescentsandyouth,makingeffectiveandtransparentuseoffundsreceived.

Therefore, the selection of scholarshipholders becomes very important as thedonations received will target familieswithhigherlevelsofexclusion.

Thecriteriaare:

1.Thescholarshipstudentswillcomefromareasthathavebeendeterminedtobeinextremepoverty.2.Resideinareasofsocialexclusion.3.Thefamilyincomeshouldbeclassifiedunderthesameorlessthanthelowincomestipulatedintheincomepovertymap.4.Thestudentshouldnotbeawardedwithascholarshipfromanotherinstitution,unlesstheFoundationhassomekindofconventionoragreement.5.Theaveragegraderequiredwilldependontheeducationalstagesthataremade.6.Showthatthefamilypermanentlysupportsthescholarshipholder.7.Theprogramwillfocusontheincorporationofgirlstoeducation.

VIII. Profile of SponsoredIndividual.The foundation visualizes that the characteristics that every scholarship recipient must have with the purpose of achieving academic success and with theprogram are:

1. Dedication to study.2. Engaged and committed to community development.3. Seeks academic and professional development.4. Develop their own personal interests.5. Demonstrate solidarity with their study colleagues.6. Show good behavior within their community and study center.7. Demonstrate financial hardship.

For those scholarship holders in the stages of early childhood and special education, the open support of the person in charge will be considered.

IX. Components.

1. Building friendships between sponsors and scholarship recipients.

TheSSPwill facilitateandwillstrengthencommunicationbetweenthesponsorsand thescholarshipholders,fostering a bond of friendship based on respect,multiculturalism, ethics, honesty and transparency for bothparties.

Theboyorgirl,willsendtwodigitallettersintheyear,whichwillbesupervisedbyFUNDEMAC.

2. Financial support for access to education.

Thismonthly,quarterlyoryearlyfundshallbeprovidedthroughafeefromthesponsor,thisfundisgoingtobeessentialforthescholarshipitselfandtheactionstotakeintherestofthecomponents.

3. Academic support to the scholarship holder.

Contributestoimprovingacademicperformanceofthescholarshiprecipient,byidentifyingandseekingalternativesolutionstolearningproblems,whichisrealizedthroughtutoringandlifeeducation,schoolresourcesdevelopingstudyskills,encouragereading,amongothers.

4. Promote Recreation, Culture and Sport.

Foster access to participation in artistic activities, sports activitiesandknowledgeofthehistoricalandculturalheritage.

5. Health support to the grant holders.

Contributetoimprovingthehealthstatusofthescholarshiprecipient through nutritional care and disease preventionfromthecommunityandtheschoolwhichcontributetotheirhealthygrowthandimprovementofthelearningprocess.

6. School innovation, technology and

educational management.

Promotetherighttoeducationwithequityandqualitythroughcontinuous innovation and improvement of human andmaterialresources,thestrengtheningofdemocraticaccessandparticipationoftheeducationalcommunity.

X. Accountability.FUNDEMAC works transparently to ensure adequate implementation of the SSP and the proper

use of the funds received by sponsors, companies, associations and others.

Via:

•Informfriends,thegrantees,educationalcommunitiesand other local stakeholders on the implementationof activities, achievements, investment, communityinvolvement,limitationsandstrengths.

•Provideaccountablitythroughpublicevents,distributionof digital information and newsletters through thewebsite,reports,includingannualreportsamongothers.

•PromotecommunitycontrolthroughknowledgeoftheoperationoftheSSP.

• Disseminate the results of the audit conducted byoutsidefirms.

PutinplaceamechanismthatallowsFUNDEMACtoprovideaccurateandtimelyinformationtoallstakeholdersrelated to SSP.

XII. Antonia´s story...FromfourthgradeonwardsIworkedtocontinuestuding,Iattendedhighschoolintheblendedmodel,whileworingsellingthingsIhadmadeandtookcareofmydaughters.

When Ifinishedhighschool, Iapplied foraneducationscholarship in thedistanceeducationmodelwhichwasofferedbyFUNDEMACandtheUniversityJoseSimeonCañas.Whenyouhaveagoalyoumustfighttoaccoplishit.

Ialwayshadtobringmyone-year-olddaughterwithmewhenIhadtodoleavetostudy.Backthenmyresourceswerescarce.TherewasamomentwhenIwasabouttoquitmystudiesandevenmyfathersaidthateducationwould never put foodon the table, butwhen I thoughtabout leaving my studies behind… I always thoughtaboutthefutureofmydaughters.Iamtheonlydaughteramongtensiblingsthatfinishedschool.

Ithasbeenvery important formecompletemyeduca-tion,becausenowIcanhelpmydaughtersandwehaveadifferent life. Iwant tohelpmyfamilyandnowIcan!Besides,asateacherIcontributewiththecommunitybyrescuinglostvalues.
