Architecture Design [Final Year Project]: T.H.E Scenes
Wei Peng goh
A dance, is composed by
dancers, space and backdrop. A
backdrop is a negative space
which brings out a theme, express
artistic components, tells a stories
and hence it can evoke emotions.
It plays a crucial role in the dance
performance. The design intent is
to portray architecture as stage
that is designed with different
backdrops and unknowingly
putting the users into these
scenes.
It enriches user’s experiences in
the building, it also creates fun
and excitement when user is
surprised by the unexpected
spaces.
By using keyword ‘framing’,
beautiful surrounding nature is
captured as a scene that greets
users at the main entrance. The
gigantic bayan tree in the frame
creates a dramatic entrance.
Slanting walls at different angles
and hence form a cave-like
opening that allows beams of
sunlight to flow into the space.
Planting different sizes of columns
at the open plaza, in order to hide
the awkwardness of the stand-
alone structures, it also creates a
forest scene.
