GRAMPIANS WINEMAKERS SHIRAZ BARRIQUE AUCTIONTASTE OF THE GRAMPIANS
In its twenty-six year history, the Grampians Winemakers Shiraz Barrique Auction has been both a focal point of the festival and an integral part of winemaking in the region. The idea behind the barrique was conceived by winemakers Trevor Mast, Viv Thomson and Ian McKenzie. In 2015 particiapting wineries, Montara, Best’s Great Western, Seppelt Great Western, Grampians Estate, Mount Langi Ghiran, Mountainside Wines, Miner’s Ridge and AT Richardson Wines, selected some of their very best shiraz to be blended together to make a truly special one-off regional shiraz.
The Barrique is a rare and unique wine that is a celebration of winemaking in the Grampians and the quality of Shiraz it produces. Valued by collectors for its complexity and longevity, it is auctioned in small lots of bottles and magnums, allowing a broad cross section
of people to bid for a ‘Taste of the Grampians’.
The 2015 barrique has been blended by Justin Purser, from Best’s
Wines and is reported to display Fragrant aromas of pastille, sweet spices, green peppercorns, musky florals and red fruits.
It will go under the hammer at 2.00pm on Saturday
in the Ariston Marquee.
W ELCOME TO THE 26T HA NNUA L GR A MPI A NSGR A PE E SCA PE
I am delighted to welcome you to the picturesque Grampians for the 26th edition of one of the longest food and wine festivals in Victoria, Grampians Grape Escape Food and Wine Festival.
This weekend’s Festival caps off a month-long calendar of activities that has highlighted some of this region’s, and Victoria’s, best food and wine artisans.
This Festival provides a relaxed atmosphere for foodies, families and
international tourists to drink and graze their way through the offerings of more than 100 of Western Victoria’s best producers.
Since its inception in 1991, the Festival has expanded to include the neighbouring Pyrenees and Henty wine regions, a calendar of master classes by local producers and a live music and family entertainment program.
The Victorian Government is proud to support the Grampians Grape Escape Food and Wine Festival through the $20 million Regional Events Fund. This fund is designed to help rural and regional communities all over Victoria stage and secure the events that drive visitation and showcase the best of everything the regions offer.
This Festival provides the region with an integral platform to increase overnight visitation and raise the profile of this fantastic destination.
I wish you an enjoyable and memorable festival experience and encourage you to use this opportunity to take in Grampians and many other attractions within this region.

S H A G R O C KIndie surf-rockers, Shag Rock will bring their own unique vibes to the stage with some chilled tunes including single ‘Sunbleached Girl.’
Working with their producer, mentor and ex-Powderfinger
guitarist, Ian Haug, these Brissie Boys are coming off the back of an East Coast tour which included the Grampians Music Festival and are sure to be a Saturday afternoon crowd pleaser.
V A N D E R L A YVanderlay is the alternative folk music project of singer/songwriter Caspar Conrick. Expect melodic, mostly calm alternative folk music that will denote the festival feast of talent to come.
Vanderlay craft intricate, melodic folk music that is both nuanced and ambitious
in its scope. Pensive and measured, Caspar’s vocals and guitar will be accompanied by bass, keyboard, drum and violin for a perfect wine festival atmosphere.
D E M I L O U I S EDemi’s unique brand of folk-inspired pop has built up an impressive following of over 60,000+ worldwide through gigs, her You Tube channel and social media.
Receiving glowing reviews from overseas Demi’s debut single ‘Ruins’ reach no. 7 in the ITunes Singer Songwriter chart, had her
song ‘Rivers Run To Red’ covered by ‘The German Voice’ winner Charley Ann, and in 2014 taking home ‘Pop Song of the Year’ at the Australian Songwriters Association Awards.
Demi Louise’s romantic hazy tunes are made for a day of food and wine at the foothills of Halls Gap’s Mount William.
N I C K C H A R L E SNick Charles is known internationally as ‘Australia’s virtuoso of acoustic roots and blues’.
He has released a dozen albums on Australian and US labels including his latest ‘The River Flows’
which has seen him awarded the 2016 ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Solo Performer of the Year’ in the blues scene.
Charles will deliver finger picking roots music magic with a lifetime’s stories and songs from the world’s musical highways.
FESTIVALSPONSORSRegional Victoria’s premier food and wine festival is proudly brought to you by:
D E L I N E B R I S C O EComing off the back of a sold-out international tour with Black Arm Band, one of Australia’s most talented indigenous artists, Deline Briscoe, will be accompanied by a seven piece band for what will be a skin-tingling performance.
Her songs are a delightful mix of roots soul, gospel and tasty rhythmic grooves. Songs that tell stories, empower and inspire all that see, hear and feel her intoxicating live performance.
The empowering and inspiring Deline Briscoe will sweep Grape Escaper’s off their feet.
K A R L S W I L L I A M SKarl S William’s sound is strongly influenced by the blues of the Mississippi delta but also spirituals, country gospel, Appalachian banjo tunes and swampy soul. This music, he believes, encapsulates the essential human spirit and
to embody this essence is his goal with every song and every performance until the end of his days.
Bound to be a festival favourite, those who see Karl perform live are unavoidably drawn to it and uplifted.
F R E Y A J O S E P H I N E H O L L I C KImmersing herself in her songs and the stories they tell, Freya Josephine Hollick is an old world songbird whose voice has been described as haunting, as both powerful and fragile.
Her live performances are often candid, her banter between songs becomes more of a refreshingly honest and often darkly humorous account of her lived experience as a single mother and the loneliness, difficulty and beauty of it all.
W I L L I A M C R I G H T O NFeatured as one of Rolling Stone’s hottest rising stars last year, William Crighton’s deep and captivating voice will leave the GGE audience mesmerised and wanting more.
The singer-songwriter, now based in the Hunter Valley, is known for his powerful and mesmerising live performances and will be returning from gigs in Toronto and Vancouver to close the festival on Sunday.
C H R I S W I L S O NMaster of his craft, Chris Wilson has been an essential part of blues and rock music in Australia since the 80s.
He has performed as part of the Sole Twisters, Harem Scarem and Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, plus fronted his band Crown of Thorns. In 1996 Wilson collaborated with Johnny Diesel on the album, Short Cool Ones and has many solo albums including Landlocked.
Established as one of Australia’s finest vocalists, harmonica players and songwriters, Wilson will entertain with his dynamic power performance on the harmonica and guitar.
Q U A R R Y M O U N T A I N D E A D R A T STaking it back to a simpler time, where the pickin’ was fast and the banjo was king, this five piece from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, will
bring their raw and gritty version of bluegrass kicking and hollering into the modern day.
While naturally establishing a warm ‘old mate’ affinity with their audiences, they effortlessly deliver a kick-you-in-the-face, high intensity live show, leading the charge for a singalong, drink-along, foot-stomping good time.
