” My name’s Jeremy and some call me Tacky. I am a light painting fanatic.I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and spend great amounts of time waving lights in front of my camera. It’s been more than a hobby since I started in late 2008.I aspire to share this art form with the public through interactive workshops so that they can create their own light painting photographs. Something as intriguing as this should be enjoyed by all.”

Jeremy Jackson began light painting in 2008, and the pursuit quickly grew into an a portfolio of vividly-colored, fantastical photos. His work is entirely the result of the artist waving lights and other contraptions (pads of steel wool in a suet cage swinging from a rope, for example) in front of his camera with specific setting and exposures up to 12 minutes long. No Photoshop necessary. Jackson lives and works in the Appalachian region of Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. His Flickr page gives detailed information on the camera settings he uses for each photo to create such vibrant results. Take a look at some of his recent work below.
