Willie and Gwen Richardson, Co-FoundersNational Black Book Festival
It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since we launched the National Black Book Festival! When we started this endeavor our goal was
to showcase the depth and breadth of African-American literature and make it available annually to Houstonians and others in the Southwest region. On this tenth anniversary we celebrate the achievement of that goal and plan to continue for years to come. Thanks to Fallbrook Church for allowing us to once again host NBBF at this spacious facility. Pastor Michael Pender and his wife, Sister Jan, are shining examples of leaders within the body of Christ and the Houston community. The entire staff and ministry workers at Fallbrook have been incredibly gracious, and we cannot thank them enough for all of the assistance they provided. Also, thanks to members of the Cushcity Book Club who volunteer ev-ery year and help manage on-site activities; volunteers from through-out the city who assist; the featured and participating authors who travel from all over the United States; publishers, book clubs, readers and others within the book industry. Please support the works of the authors listed throughout this newspaper by purchasing their books at the Festival and in the coming months. The 2018 National Black Book Festival will be held October 25-27 at Fallbrook Church. Thank you for your continued support.
